I haven't started my swap yet so I don't know if this would work but here is an idea.

The 99 Escalades use the output of C1 (Blue) Pin 9 using PWM from the ECM to run the same fuel gauge as the 97 gauges that use the standard 0-90 ohm fuel guages.

According to the diagrams I just looked at, the stock thirdgen fuel gauges uses fixed voltage inputs and the resistor in the tank to drive the gauge.

What if you ground the signal wire to the tank, and use the Pin 9 output in place of the fixed voltage input to the gauge and adjust the PWM table in the ecm with your tuning software of choice, while keeping the plastic tank sending unit in tact, allow the use of the EVAP, etc...

I will be giving this a try when I finally get around to doing my gen 3 swap if nobody else gets to it first.

Or....

Use a mid 90's grand am fuel level sender with the 4th gen float. Its the stock 0-90 ohm sweep and snaps right onto the 4th gen bucket assembly. No tuning necessary, keep or ignore EVAP, your choice
