so I got my lq4 back from the machine shop and need to assemble. I still need to get new rod bolts, but I have my main bearing cap bolts. however I didn't get the bolts that go on the side of the caps from outside the block. will I be ok if I don't get new side bolts? or should I get new ones? also, is there a good source to look at torqe specs and procedures?

Re: lq4 assembly question
You should be ok using the stock main cap bolts. If you're planning on making decent power you might want to get new ARP bolts though. I installed all new ARP fasteners on my LQ4 build for added peace of mind.
Here's a pretty informative LQ4 manual online you can reference:

Re: lq4 assembly question
I'd say just get new side bolts. They aren't expensive at all, and it can't hurt. I went and replaced all of mine when I first built my engine. I think they are actually the same as the cam bolts.

Let me see if I can find the link.

Re: lq4 assembly question
You can reuse the side bolts if you put a dab of RTV under the heads. They have sealant under the flange that wears off when torqued and removed. If you just stick the old ones in without sealant, then it will leak oil
