Picked up a bird yesterday for $1200
1997 V6 3.8 T-top Auto
It had 2 owners, 1st owner to care of it, completely on top of maintenance from the day he bought it (97) till the day he sold it (07). I have all the records from him. 2nd owner kinda neglected it, she drove around on the same plugs for 3 years, same oil for about a year, she kinda kept up with maintenance, but that was AFTER it started to overheat from a dirty, clogged radiator.
The interior is too good to be true, only thing wrong is the 2nd gear start button mounts broke so it kinda hangs.
The exterior is nice, great color, its green at night but teal/blue/green in the daytime, front bumper has oxidation and rear bumper looks very dull, like it has no more clear coat. Other then that, it looks great. No not just great, Sexy!
It runs great, alot of misc parts replaced from 2nd owner. New water pump, new thermostat, all new hoses, vacuum lines, etc... basic maintenance. It has a misfire but im sure its from a fouled plug, the lady I bought it from admitted to changing the spark plugs only once, the first day she bought it from owner #1 in 2007. I changed the oil, it was pretty black. I can say its definitely not burning oil. She also admitted to not changing the oil for about a year (light driving she claims?), it still had about 3.7 out of 5 quarts. Engine is leaking oil, no cream in the oil or radiator, radiator is clogged with gunk though. Only problem I can think of besides the radiator is the shredded alternator wire that is hanging on for dear life lol
I really wanted another thirdgen, but there was absolutely nothing in my budget in san diego or surrounding areas.
