New removal/ upgrades due to recent emmitions ommitions in Illinois!!!!

I read about the new law that all cars 1995 and older do not need to take emissions tests anymore, but to be sure i called the air team place that does that. Gave them my vin and the lady said i never had to test with them again!!!!

So... What should i do now. I know that whole air system on there was for emissions and makes a mess of the engine bay and even has a pulley on the belt drive so i assume it takes away power. I assume that would take a shorter belt to remove the air pump does any one know which pulley i would need to do that? Maybe remove the cats or gut them...Any other ideas to drop weight or regain robbed power after this glorious new law?

You do not need any extra pulley, you just need a longer belt. Check out this tech article https://www.thirdgen.org/serpentine

been in a non emission county for 3 years, and still I have no 383 Damn you bills! I removed the smog pump off my 88 (thought I had a really bad rod knock thats how bad it was) but I used the factory belt, worked for the year I owned it anyways.

Well, I got the pump all removed with a nice new gator back belt 93 in, runs great. I was surprised to find both how heavy the bag of stuff i took off really was, and how hard it was to turn that air pump by hand. That thing was really draining a lot of power out of the engine, It was probubly broken in some way but no problem now. Any other ideas of things i can do. I was thinking removing the charcoal canister but i don't think it really weighs that much and it seems like it may be sort of important, according to other posts at least, mixed reviews. Also i plan on pulling out my cats at some point but being that i am at school right now that is difficult to do. Any other ideas are greatly appreciated!
