Thinking of Selling the Camaro - Looking for some input..

Hi. I purchased my 1987 Iroc-Z a while back and did little things here and there but the time has come to start thinking about the family and buying a house so I was considering selling the Iroc. I barely drive it and I spent so much trying to get her looking good and whatnot that I have to catch up on the bills and all. Anyway I was hoping some of you guys could help me out and give me an idea on what I could expect to get for the car. Here is the info and mods that I have done:

1987 Camaro Iroc - Z
Exterior Yellow
Interior Black
Automatic
T-tops
Mileage on Body 160,000
New engine put in has approx and is 5.7 350 - 30,000
Trans rebuilt at 130,000
Body has 2 rust spots but other than that pretty good all around

Mods:
Edelbrock Intake Manifold Spacer - Paid 430
Edelbrock Hi-Flo runners - Paid 370
New Tires all around - Paid 500
New Moog Springs all around - paid 200
Sway bars front and rear - paid 400
Strut tower brace - paid 120
Euro Headlights - Paid 120
HID lights - paid 200
Tint all around - paid 200
Pioneer Headunit w/ cd and Ipod hookup - paid 175
Pioneer speakers in dash and infiniti in rear - paid 300
Alpine amp for speakers - paid 400
Direct Audio Subwoofer Amp - paid 150
Direct Audio Subs - paid 100
custom sub box - paid 120
Capacitor - paid 50
MAC headers and straigtpiping all the way through - paid 500 everything

I think that pretty much sums all the mods up...just curious as to what I might expect to get for it.. it sucks because looking at it straight on i would say I probably spent like 4500-5000 on mods not including install on the stuff.. and thats not including the car itself...

Wow that sucks.. Most of the stuff especially the suspension was put in like 50-100 miles ago... everything in the car that i put has like nothing on it... i only drive it once in a while.. and only take it to local places...here are some pics.. you can barely see the rust spots.. they cleaned it up pretty good by putting some stuff over it and painting.. I talked to a guy in a body shop who said it wasnt bad at all and wouldnt take much to fix.. the spots i would say are about 3 inches long.. you can make it out a little on the each rear wheel well...

Yeah that is nice. Just needs black headlight buckets. Looks like the nose is a different shade than the rest of the car? I'd spend the money and get the rust taken car of because visable rust knocks the price down when your trying to haggle.

Any car that you dump money into will never come back. Fact of life which sucks as I am modifyng mine. I'd start the price around 6k and let people offer for it. Private selling is the way to go, dealers will only give you trade in value. Should end up getting between 4500 to 5500. I wish you the best of luck selling it.

Re: Thinking of Selling the Camaro - Looking for some input..

Hi:

If I were you, I would keep it regardless !!! Looks like a real nice IROC Camaro !!! Back when I was looking for a Trans Am, a friend of mine was selling an 85 Black IROCZ with 11,000 miles. It came down to the Firebird or the Camaro. My mechanic, who is a Pontiac Mechanic, recommened at the time to get the Firebird with the 305 4 barrel, which he worked on alot and little issues with it.

I have owned my 85 Trans Am for 21 years now. When I was getting married, the misses wanted me to get rid of it. I put in alot of money into the car and would never get it back, so I kept it. She did not like it, but I owned and she had no say on the matter !!!!

This is a car that I drove everyday, in Rain, Sleet and Snow !!! What saved me was I had ther car undercoated when I bought it, so I did not have a major rust issues. When I had the spoilers removed and repainted, there were some small rust spots on the fender and 1/4 panel that was address then and there.

I stopped everyday driving about 12 years ago, so I am working on it ever since. I do alittle at a time when I have extra money. I am good at car detailing, so I have done that several times and made some good money.

So hold on to it, work on it yourself as much as possible and it will look great.

As far as car insurance, try Hagerty Classic Car Insurnace to cut costs. Cut my cost in half from regular car insurance + have 50 miles towing and a good agreed car value for $300 a year.

So keep it, as long as your credit history is good, you will have no issue getting the loan for a house. Get a fixed rate and do not go with any adjustable rates.

Hope this helps you decide !!!

Rob
