They were calling for rain tonight and tomorrow morning. 5PM and it was still nice so I went to the track. Arriving a little late, I missed the first time trial run. 2 time trails and the car was running great. Not enough to set any records but the new rear anti roll bar I finished installing this morning worked perfectly. Nice straight wheels up launches without any body roll or pulling to the right like it did before.

First round of eliminations, I wanted to try an old 4-link setting just to see how it would react with the anti roll bar. The front end didn't pick up as much and 60' was roughly the same. I did however manage to red light giving away the round. Too bad since my opponent broke out big time and blew his engine after the finish line.

Reaction times were .007, .031, -.026. Third one it was night time.
ET was 9.903 with a 4500 rpm launch. 9.818 and 9.840 with a 6000 rpm launch and the last run had a different 4-link IC.
MPH was a consistent 139.25, 139.42, 139.16. Down slightly from the last race but the DA was a lot lower tonight and I may have been running a little lean.

It was now around 8pm, getting dark, getting cold (around 9c), and it was just starting to rain. I loaded up and got the car home before it started to really rain.

Here's a different shot of the engine.

And here's what my rear suspension now looks like. The new anti roll bar is mounted behind and on the inside of the shocks. Glad I don't need to install wheelie bars yet. I'm running out of room. I got the anti roll bar in the mail yesterday and finished installing it this morning. Look at how much room I have between the frame rails and the tires. I could stuff an even wider tire under the fenders if I had some rims with a bit more backspace.

Re: Got a few passes in tonight
The arms are both straight. The bottom rod ends are turned to line up with the mounts on the rear brace. Both links are straight up and down but the right link sits forward slightly because of how the rear brace is installed. I couldn't install the diff mounts on top of the braces or on top of the diff. Normally, the anti roll bar is forward of the diff and the arms point backwards with the diff mounts attached to the diff tubes. There was no way I could have installed the torque tube in front of the diff with the wishbone installed on top of the diff. Mounting it on the rear works just as easily. There's a local 4-linked car that doesn't have a lot of room behind the diff. He installed his coil over shocks on the front side of the diff. Still works fine.

Paint! Paint adds weight. I just finished installing the anti roll bar this morning. I added roughly 15 pounds to the rear of the car so my race weight should now be around 3075 pounds.

amazing the difference these anti roll bars make, easily a very justifiable addition to any car going drag racing.

oh, turn up the welder heat too

Re: Got a few passes in tonight
110v MIG welder heat is already at max.

For drag racing, remove the front sway bar.

Even on a street car, if you don't have a rear sway bar, install one even for drag racing. Street cars will twist too. The mushy end link bushings aren't that great but they can easily be changed to something more adjustable and solid.

Re: Got a few passes in tonight
well i tested my anti roll bar on a relatively stock suspension third gen, i put it on the back bumper, with the rear tires off the ground, it was still going straight 1.52 60 ft with the bummper.... new engine seems to work ok, lifted off for what seemed like forever the ran out the back at 146 mph, now i need limiters for the front and a chute.
