After years of working on my car to bring it back from junk yard status, and countless set backs, I was finally able to take my car to the track. I probably should have created a build thread on it, although it would have been 7 years long.
Some info on the car: 82 z28, which kind of got out of hand. My initial plans were to swap the engine, trans, and rear out and have fun, but I wound up tearing the car apart, re-wiring it, making all new brake and fuel lines, installing a 10 pt. cage, SFC's, tubular front and rear suspension, etc. The engine is a 355 that I built when I was 17. 10:1 compression, Crane Hyd. roller: .538"/.558" 234/242@ .050, Brodix Track 1 heads, Scat forged crank, Eagle H-beams, and SRP flat tops. It's topped off with a Super Vic and a 750 Mighty Demon. Transmission is a ATI Turbo 400, with a 8" converter, that stalls around 4200. Rear end is a Moser 9" with 4.56's.
Now to the good stuff: First pass -- 1.68 60', 11.89 @ 113.97. I was only able to make 2 passes, and it spun real bad on the second, but I did pick up .8 mph by jetting it up. My LM-2 showed it was still lean, so I think it definitely has more in it. I also think the three year old M/T 275's that are on it aren't performing as well as they should. I guess thats not too bad for a 10:1 355...I know I was happy to finally make a pass in it!

That's great news. Did you play with timing before you jetted up? I would get that dialed in first then jet for max mph. This is right where i want my combo to be but a little higher mph. (I also have been working on and off on my car for 5-6 years). Cheers!Originally Posted by jg04222

I didn't get a chance to play with the timing; I've always been under the impression that you should dial in the A/F ratio first, then the timing, and then clean up the A/F ratio again. Since it was lean on the first pass, I didn't want to make things worse by adding more timing to the mix before getting the A/F ratio to a known safe level of somewhere in the 12.5-12.8 range.
