Well finally got some time to fabricate the pipes and adapter for the blower intake. Pulley and 35 lb injectors are should be here this week. Just have to finish the "hat" and the lower mount for the intercooler. cheers, Bob

looks good but the TPI TB bellows will balloon and pop. look at an LT1's it is more rigid and makes a 90' turn right off the TB.

Jags that run has a 4 inch to 3 inch 90* rubber elbow for 20 bucks.. its a .25 inch thick, that should be sufficiant.. i think..LOL thanks, Bob

Are you running the hot air pipe to an intercooler down by the battery tray?

Yeah I have a intercooler from a Saab 900. Just fits between the frame and fender. Once I add the SS air dam, you won't see it hanging down. cheers, Bob

Get that alternator on a low mount and put one on the other side now. LOL

Man, forget all that. Go to Home Depot, and get a 3" fernco(brand) plumbing coupler (I believe that they're designed for connecting to cast iron waste stacks, they're made out of 3/8-1/2" thick rubber with a hose clamp on either end), it will just barely stretch over the TB. It'll be like $4 and it might inflate a little but you won't pop it. You'll have to use it with the fabricated elbow that you've already got. The 1LE one is not only fairly likely to rip, but it has a fake place to connect the silencer on the bottom, which will be on the top when you flip it over to go to the passenger side.

Another idea here is to get a 3" to 4" transition, and then oval out the 4" part and attach it with a single piece of silicon. An ovalized 4" round pipe, fits the TB perfect and looks good too.

Yep, I know that's the elbow that he's talking about. I've got one in my garage. I also know that that elbow does not look the same from the bottom and that the non ribbed areas are probably thinner then the bellows orignally used on the 3rd gens.

The problem is that 3 inch plumbing is about 3 1/2 OD. My transistion is 3 inch OD. Now JTR has a 3 inch to 4 inch 90* rubber elbow for $20. The 1LE LT1 elbow is about $50. Not sure how thick either are or if either is able to handle boost. If I have to I'll rework the 3 inch and flare it to 4 inch oval and just use a 4 inch connector. Thoughts? thanks, Bob

That is 4" pipe. If you had a piece like this connected to the TB, and then a 4" to 3" reducer down to the pipe from your intercooler, this would work.

Youd never have to worry about swelling out a piece of rubber. It would look great and function perfectly.

I don’t know about the JTR piece, but I know that the LT1 piece will not handle any substantial boost for any period of time. The walls between the ribs are probably about 3/32” thick, and the bellows part is not substantially stronger then the TPI one (somewhat more rigid being only an inch or so long). It also has roughly a 3.5” inlet to fit over the fourth gen maf.

The plumbing coupler that I’m suggesting has to be heated to stretch it over the TB and a 4th gen maf. I’d bet that it would come pretty close to you’re 3” pipe (you are right, 3” plumbing is the inside diameter and the coupler is designed to fit over roughly 3.5”). I’m just offering a cheap solution that I’m sure could be made to work. Even if the fit on your existing tube is somewhat loose you could easily slip it into a piece of 3.5” or even just weld a bead around the lip of what you’ve got to help retain it.

Something like Guido’s picture would probably be the best solution, I’d probably come up with a 3” elbow that flairs into the right oval. I believe that this is roughly what the vortech elbow is like, which is also something like $80

Being a cheap bastard with some OK metalworking skills I would probably get something similar and cut/weld/hammer it into the shape that matches the TB

Yup.. been busy with some other aspects of the Bu, finished building a nine inch with discs. Shes all finished other than I am replacing the injectors, so shes torn down atm. Also added a fuel pressure gauge and made the regulator adjustable per Vader's article. Just put a adjustable prop valve in and gutted the stocker, wanted to keep the idiot light. I should have the injectors in by the end of next week. (there in the mail) I'll post some updated pics soon. thanks, Bob
