Rebuilding a B&M 144
Anyone ever rebuild one of these personally? I just bought one and I'd like to replace the bearings, seals, and teflon strips.
I've had it done professionally and from what they told me it requires some special tools and experience- very easy to screw up if you don't know what you're doing. Rotors have to be properly synchronized after you pull it apart, etc. Sounded like more than I could tackle in my garage so I left it to the pros.
Incidentally, they found a LOT of problems with my blower, not just the rotor-to-case contact that I knew about. Dowel pin holes that were oversized, preventing any kind of positive end plate location, etc. When I got it back they had replaced basically everything in it except the drive snout. They also upgraded me to teflon-tipped rotors.
The Blower Shop out in California did the work for me. Came to $800 on my similar Weiand 142- and worth every penny. Has worked flawlessly since then and that's about 2 years ago.

I was hoping to be able to do it myself. For $800 + the $ I paid for this used one I can get a new one. Maybe I should give them a call anyway.
I don't see anything major wrong with it other than the manifold threads that mount the blower had been helicoiled, spins freely. Looks like it could use new teflon.

If anyone is willing to trade a 3" upper pulley for the 2 5/8" mine came with, let me know. It's gonna give me way too much boost.
