anything custom what is the best custom thing that you have ever seen on a thirdgen? can be anything from wheels, engine installs, interior pieces, or even underneath of the car. please show a picture though. |
1 Attachment(s) The Camaro Legends Tour LT5 Camaro. That car is hideous but engine more than makes up for it. |
Third Gen LT5!! Whoo Hooo!! :D |
Wow , that's too tough to even think about. |
In person, the coolest stuff I've seen was on Revlimits car. The front bumper didnt get finished, but the hood, headlight, and interior mods are cool. The coolest stuff I've seen on the internet has to be Fatal88's crazy 3rd gen with 4th gen guts. |

Yea I'd say Fatal88 wins no doubt. 4th gen suspension, engine, driveline with 3rd gen looks. |
fatal88! that car would make a great 5th gen ;) |
lt5 what size engine is in that camaro at the top of this thread. that is the most beautiful thing i have ever seen!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!:hail: :hail: |
Fatal88's car, Camaro Legends Tour LT5 Camaro, The Thirdgenresource car with the LS1 are the coolest cars I've seen. I agree with everyone else on this one. |
Fatal88's car looks 1000X better in person than it does in pics.. so I would have to go with that one also. |
Combine fatals and the one with the LS1 Engine :D Then we would have :hail: :hail: That would make a nice combo for the 5th gen camaro huh? Time to email chevy!!! |
My taillights |
1 Attachment(s) I like Hawks 3rd gen parts LS1 Car better. Bruce added the vette mirrors....Man does that thing runs. He took Joe and I for a ride in it and it is Awesome! Crap I have pics, but they are too large...Darn... Personally I really love the way the 4th gen Firebird mirrors turned out on RAIF. Sorry to toot my own horn, but I really love them....I plan to add then to the 82 as well. Oh and I can't forget my headlight conversion. I think both of these were very dramatic changes that really suited my car. Now I just have to make the headlight doors part of the hood and illiminate them.... |
1 Attachment(s) umm its fireworks custom |
well... im making altezza tails for my iroc...no pics yet...although im really close iroc2nv |
The scissor door mod is still in my list of "things to do" . Should be a jaw dropper if it works out as planned. |
I'm gonna have to go with ThirdGenResource's 91 Z28 Convertible LS1 6 Speed. That thing is just plain badass. |
can i ask why everyone raves about an LS1 in a thirdgen....they are over priced for the amount of power that they offer. granted i like them as well.......it is nice to see new things that you don't see everyday. but the LS1 isn't an uncommon thing in other cars anymore so it wouldn't be my total decision. although for cars that are seen on here again i agree. :) |

Combine fatals and the one with the LS1 Engine |

true there aren't from the factory but my point was putting them in street rods and cars like the thirdgen there are plenty. i know of 5 thirdgens personally in michigan with them; over half a dozen fox body mustangs and quite a few true custom rods with them with a grand total of at least 12 that i could go and see any day of the week it isn't something that i find rare or unique. the LS1 has been out for quite some time now but it's finally coming down to reasonable prices so your seeing more and more as well as the engines that are used are getting extremly cheap and easy to purchase. while the engine itself is a terrific design i just don't see it as the top mod of all time. i think it's great for those who can get ahold of a cheap one and use it because of the potential and great power they have...but that's it. like i said earlier...i agree that the cars with them have some truly nice ideas; but i can't base it as the greatest mod. that was my main point i guess. :) |

And it is amazing in a 3rd gen. So needless to say that is why I went back to the LT1 idea. Though i think the 82 will get the LT1. I have the motor and can get the 82 up and running drive it and take RAIF down for his engine swap. If we can afford it...we would really like to go with a turbo 3.8 motor...then I can keep the RAM AIR V-6 emblems...With a bigger turbo and with the boost turned up those motors can see 11s easy...Heck it was the fastest (in stock form) production engine till the LS1 came along...I think it would hacve more of a wow factor too (shows)...Though that means no more Super Chevy... |
ive actually seen none in Mi. im downriver though so all i really get to see is Ryce. |
1 Attachment(s) my best custom thing right now... clear front parking lamps!! |

1 Attachment(s) i guess this is kinda custom too, since i had to cut away part of the ducts to make it flush.... |
1 Attachment(s) i consider this custom considering it was free and easy as hell (minus the part i broke the speedo needle off :( oops!)) |
1 Attachment(s) this is sorta custom too. (Thanks Kj for the idea) |
I put a 4th gen rear and disc brakes in so I could get my ZR1 wheels, I also have custom IROC and 25th aniv stripes. http://jawzforlife.home.att.net/images/3frontside.jpg |
Hey Jawz. I read that if you swap a fouth generation rear end into a third generation car, that the rear tires will stick out past the rear fenders. It doesn't look like you have that problem with your car, if that's your white Camaro in the picture. Also, what gears did the fourth generation rear end have? dave |

woah......2 4th gens, prowler, vette and s10.....very very nice....do u have any other pics or sites of any other of those cars? |
That is a nice little collection! :D |
redraif pretty much hit it on the head for my reasons as to why i choose not to go LS1. they can be made reliable if you spend the money....but twice as much money for what reason? to build the same amount of power out of an LS1 that my new engine will have would have cost me almost twice as much not to mention all the extras i would need to make it work. i agree that someone who gets a steal on an LS1 they are a great engine. but, i wouldn't go out of my way to put one in a thirdgen. not until the price drops dramatically. HamSpiced, i bet you may have seen more than you know. most of the LS1 cars here in michigan don't go to anything other than the major indoor car shows or the strip. alot are in hiding. they are all over the place here in michigan.........if you want to count the full custom retro rods as well as some of the cross breeds then i'd say in the summer you might see a different one every other day. while they may be rare in some parts they certainly aren't here and while they do make impressive power it isn't anything that can't be done with something else. while exclusivity is great....it only goes so far. |
Hey Jawz. I'm going to bug you one more time. You didn't need any spacers for the rear tires to fit since you swapped out the rear end. That meant that you still had to purchase the spacers for the front tires. Is that correct? dave |

That makes sense. That just gives me another reason to update my z28 to a fourth generation rear end. Better gears (I have 2.73s), disc brakes in the rear (get rid of the drums) and no need for spacers ($200 savings). My current rear axle is a posi though. I would think that most if not all fourth gen rear ends are posi units. Thanks for the info. dave |

Thanks for the info. dave Keep in mind will need to buy, -the rear end, $200-300 -the calipers, $25 each -new brake pads, $50 -I would get stronger U jounts, $20 -new proportioning valve for rear disc brakes, $60 -grease for the rear end, $5 -poss new brake line from rear end to caliper, $15 -new e-brake cable for disc brakes (the long ones made for 3rd gens). $40 -new brake hose bolts for caliper. $5 It wont be cheaper than adaptors, you looking at $400-$600, but its more fun to have than adaptors.:D |
You want custom, This is all custom 1 Attachment(s) You say you want custom, here is custom. I have done all the work on this car from repairing rust holes, converting the t-tops to a targa top, custom paint and stereo install. Shaved door handles, Rear end swap (96 camaro) to name a few. For all the mods to my car view my ride (Tribaldaze) Also I am working now on fabricating a tail light piece with 2003 Corvette Euro style lights. Will post when I have it done. |
