Camaroguy18 12-07-2004 03:37 PM

SLP IROC-Z 12-07-2004 04:13 PM

cool dude

Sickness91Z28 12-07-2004 04:20 PM

I really think that the 4th gen tips look way better too. I mean..the quad tips are cool...but I think they are a little to much.

CaysE 12-07-2004 05:17 PM

Slash-cut em! :D

evoluzione1 12-07-2004 05:28 PM

awsome!

nick418 12-07-2004 05:29 PM

shawn cant wait for some pics man

nolanr0413 12-07-2004 06:10 PM

i think they look better. Good choice , If you wanted to do something really awesome you could cut out spots in the bumper and then mount them that way .

I agree. Everything about their shape matches the 3rd gen body lines. Nice and wide, short, and square. I think they look great.

BirdsofPray 12-07-2004 08:38 PM

I gotta say, I like them both equally. Then again, I'm a bit partial....especially due to the fact that if I ever saw your car in person I'd probably immediately do something like this: :hail:

megaracerx 12-07-2004 08:41 PM

i like the tips you have now, why change them?

nick418 12-07-2004 08:43 PM

i think its better looking then kandieds as well...if i had to pick to 3rd gens (outa the ones i'v seen) to go head 2 head for the title of best third gen...it would prolly be those two.

yea i deff agree, both have best cars on TGO, but i think shawns better cuz its black and hes my Pal!;)

Sickness91Z28 12-07-2004 10:20 PM

thanks for the kind words guys...but..let's not get this off topic...I'm not here to make enemies or anything :)

Top 10 reason's why I'm changing the tips:
1. Just not on TGO, but all together, the round, long tips are just way over done..and I see them way to often.
2. I'm going for a more updated, sleeker style
3. The quad tips are a little crooked...and almost impossible to get them dead straight
4. In most cases, different=good if it's done tastefully and not over done
5. I think the 4th gen style fit the contour of the 3rd gen body a bit better and flow with the lines of the car
6. Four 3 1/2 inch tips out the back...isn't that a little to much? Sure it was cool for about a month...but after that...they got old really fast
7. I was getting alot of negative responses about them...some on here...and some at shows...and that told me something
8. Stainless will not rust
9. I wanted exhaust tips that don't stick out like a sore thumb
10. Because no other 3rd gen around here has them.
:)

That's exactly it! Do it cause you want to. Nothing wrong with customization. I like both exhaust tips, but I think its kinda cool that you can take parts from a 4th gen and put them on a 3rd gen.

Zrated83 12-08-2004 09:56 AM

Those tips look real good man  I like em better than your current ones. What is the inlet size for the 4th gen tips?

they range from 2 1/4 all the way up to 3 inch inlet. I went with 2 1/2 inch inlet

black88cam 12-08-2004 10:20 AM

I like them better then the quad tips you currently have...good choice..:D ...

'Nuff said.

;)

MetalliCamaroRS 12-08-2004 01:31 PM

I like them, I think you made a good choice.

Can't wait to see pics of them on.

JeremyNYR 12-08-2004 10:14 PM

they look really good. I've been considering the 4th gen tips... i keep going back and forth on them though. How much did those set you back?

Sickness91Z28 12-09-2004 12:21 AM

How much did those set you back

I think they were only $55.00...and they are brand new. They are all over ebay.

Daytona T/A 12-09-2004 02:36 PM

did you get yours off ebay?

Sickness91Z28 12-09-2004 03:04 PM

25THRSS 12-09-2004 11:02 PM

Much better

BLOWN25TH 12-10-2004 12:54 AM

I am glad you decided to go with those tips. I remember you asking about them a few weeks ago. Nice choice, there is no doubt these tips compliment the lines of our cars the best. You wont be disapointed when they are installed. Oh yeah, I love mine.

CamarosRUS 12-10-2004 08:49 AM

excellent choice :goodjob: i went the same route. when i need a new muffler ill slap these badboys on!!

Sickness91Z28 12-10-2004 09:28 AM

thanks guys, I just cut off my quad tips...now I have to wait till next spring to get the 4th gen tips installed. Anyhow, when I cut the tips off....it REALLY reduced the tone and volume of my muffler...it was hard to believe....very very quit.

The way the 4th gen tips are made...seem like they will really crank up the volume.....they almost act like little speaker boxes

purdyred89 12-11-2004 08:03 PM

ive got the fourth gen tips as well, mine are from a 98 z28. and BTW i like them a lot, i wish mine were stainless now.:(

I'm looking to buy these and put them on my car very soon. Can you tell me/us where you got them so I can order? $55 seems very reasonable!

stalin05 12-26-2004 06:32 PM

z28kindaguy 12-26-2004 06:38 PM

I just looked on ebay and found them pretty quick. Here's the link to my auction.

I thought they where stainless steel, Some are polished and some are painted Black. But I think there all stainless. The set I started to polish was painted black.

Those tips can look really good, (Willies car). But they have to be tucked tight to the bumper and not stick out to far. If not done right they look good at some angles not so good at others.

Post the pics when you get them on. :)

stalin05 12-27-2004 02:52 PM

hey guys, after seeing and reading this post i bought mine today on ebay for $55. What was the guys user name for those of you who bought yours on ebay? mine was "logitech"

Cant wait to post pics!:D

That's where Joe (z28kindaguy) got his as well...

z28kindaguy 12-27-2004 07:10 PM

Yup, that's who I got them from. I will post pics of them as soon as I get them on, which should be within a week. :)

shawn18jgr 12-28-2004 12:42 AM

Look awesome I like the way the guy at FBODY did his through the bumper?

stalin05 12-30-2004 05:37 PM

ok guys i got my tips put on today, and there OFF MORE THEN 3 INCHES !! The guy said my right pipe cant be moved, but the lefft pipe can be cutt, moved, and then welded back on. They said my flowmaster (that they put on) is causeing the two pipes not to line up exactly right. :bs: so tomorrow i gota take it back up there and have that done... BUT THEY SOUND SWEET!:D

stalin05 12-30-2004 08:07 PM

Ok i take that back. They sound good when the tips are warm, cause if there cold, it sounds like one big piece of aluminum flapping back in forth. When they do finally get warmed up they seem to almost double what my car sounded like before. Just my :2cents:

z28kindaguy 12-31-2004 02:34 AM

Wow, you got those on the day you got them huh? I just got mine in the mail today, but I had to rush off to work so I couldn't put them on. :(

I hope that the same thing doesn't happen with me with the alignment, I guess I will see on Monday or Tuesday.

the swede 12-31-2004 10:19 AM

Nice i have theme to but i have not put theme on the car . i think it looks better then round tailpipes . the square design folows the design of the 3rd gen cars better

stalin05 12-31-2004 12:08 PM

does anyone else think thats kinda stupid that my "flomaster" doenst line up right. there the ones that put it on lol:doh:

MikeH 12-31-2004 12:52 PM

Sounds like you need to find a better place to have the work done. If they went to all the trouble to weld them on. Knowing that it wasnt right in the first place. The person doing the work has no pride in what there doing. I never let anyone touch my car unless i have to.
