Clicked some new pic's of my toys.. I don't get a chance to use the internet much during the summer, so this will probably be it for awhile. Just wanted to get some opinions on the frontend, headlights, etc. Thanks! Here's the on-going '83 project.. http://www.81x.com/Authors/83fbody/DCP_2373.JPG And I hope those in charge will let this pic slide, it's got '85 camaro pulleys on the engine which must make it third gen related? ;-) http://www.81x.com/Authors/83fbody/DCP_2398.JPG The website has some more interesting pic's, check it out too please! http://www.81x.com/83fbody/PhotoAlbum3 -Ben |
I was really skeptical as to whether your headlight project would look anywhere close to decent, but I think it grew on me.. it doesn't look too bad. Not a fan of the front end, but I can appreciate the work that went into it. Not bad.. now to fix those tail lights... |
wow, thats nuts. Its pretty neat you did all the work . I dont know if that hood flows with the nose , but i think with some thinkin you could pull it off . Pretty cool . |
 sweet man them headlights are killer!! i think it could have done with a more stock lookin nose but still thats pretty sweet. i love the lights |
You guys are kidding right? both of those are hiddious. |
nose = no headlights = hell yes:thumbsup: they look cool man |
I dont think the hood or the headlights match up with that bumper at all. I might chance my opinion once there is paint on the car, but probably not much. I do respect all of that work that's going on there. Keep up the good work! :) |
I usually frown on these types of projects, but yours actually looks nice. I like the front Grill...not too sure about the lights though...although a great idea. Keep us updated! |
i think your very creative. the dash is ok....reminds me of a saturn. but its all good:) |
i like the headlights but the rest has to go |
the lights look pretty damn cool, but the front nose is a little boxy for the body lines...BUT it is an impressive creation none the less. |
 Thanks for the comments! The hood is pretty much done, I'd like to round the front bumper to match the contour of the headlights eventually, cut the corners off the bumper and end up with something like a cross between nascar or C5 'vette type frontend. Something like this... http://gi.vpptechnologies.com/GI/010/669/674.jpg Of course this frontend would be nice... :dreaming: http://www.unboundusa.com/images/Vettes/C5-R_Vette.jpg |
nice ride man what are you doing with the interior? |
I like the el camino. |
i think the whole front end (nose and front corner of fenders) has to change drastically to make those headlights look like they belong in any way, shape or form. I admire the effort, but i'm very skeptical that it'll look right when it's done. The side ground effects you've made make the car look even boxier than stock which conflicts with the direction you need to go for the rounder headlights to blend in. Best of luck to you... I do like the concept you have in the rear with the hatch area |
1 Attachment(s) I just wanted to see what it looked like if the headlight was a little more rectangular and filled in the corner better... |
its deffentily looks different |
 |

AHAHHAHAHA AHAHHAHHAH Oh wait, you actually spent money on those cars.......  |
That front end is really cool great job! Very creative |
Thanks for all the comments guys. Keep 'em coming! Got some newer pic's to show... http://www.81x.com/Authors/83fbody/DCP_2456.JPG http://www.81x.com/Authors/83fbody/DCP_2457.JPG Still lots of body work to go before it's straight. Do you think a custom aluminum grill would look good? I was thinking of using some small round stock with about 1/2" spacing between the "tubes" nice ride man what are you doing with the interior? Filling it up with useless college books and clothes! ;) http://www.81x.com/Authors/83fbody/DCP_2461.JPG Too much aluminum? good? bad? |
wow nice work i do not know about the interior got any more pics of the interior? |
I think an intercooler right there would look killer to top it off!!! |
lots of fab. done to that....nice job...how about some side pics? |
wow dont really care for the el camino... nor did i like the camaro in the first pics... but the front end with the lights and all looks pretty sweet in those second pics. the front bumber makes the front end kind of look like a nascar car. nice job it really looks sweet. |
No |
well the front end is looking much better. i would change the marker light to ones that are triangle shaped so they flow better...i wish i knew of a type to post up to show what i mean. the markers need to angle to the center they seem to straight up and down and are taller than the head lights. so if you could find a triangle light that was the same starting height as the headlight and tappers toward the cenetr it would be real nice. as for the dash don't like it. to flat to much alum needs some shape to it. but nice work just the same. jeff |
WOW!! I thought it was gonna stay all boxy like it was, so i didnt like it, but with the new pics its looks great man:thumbsup: |
1 Attachment(s) here shaped like this for the markers and it would flow better i think it would any way. jeff |
if you wanted an integra, or som eother pile, just sell the camaro and buy the import, don't tear up a perfectly good camaro i give you a TON of credit for the amount of work you put into it, but imho it looks like garbage, not the work, just the whole premise. again not a flame, just one mans meager opinion |

Its getting better everytime i see a pic of it. I wish my project came along like yours. |
big improvement since you molded the bumper to fit the lights. I'm actually starting to really like it. My only suggestion would be to maybe widen the grill a bit. But I guess that would be hard to do because of the frame rail location. Good work none the less, must have really took some time and dedication. |
....double post :o |
oh my bad, so he turned a TRANS AM into a pile, when since thats the case, good job, way to improve on something |
Dude, its looking good! it looks lots better from the first pics, I admire your hard work going towards making that Bird your own! cant wait to see it painted. As far as the grill goes, im not sure about what you should go with. |
"cry " "cry " |
i thought people like you bought hondas. |
I'm impressed with how you've reshaped the front end! It looks much better now that you rounded it off. I agree 100% with JeffW about the marker lights though. The headlights blend well now but the marker lights still look out of place. Also, in the pics i can't see the separation between the hood and bumber. you didn't mold them together, did you? lol... just checking |

Maybe a side shot would do it more justice... It looks like a Sunfire from the front.. |
Oh my ***, i didnt like what you were doing at first but now it is looking pretty cool. That must of taken a lot of work and it looks good. |
Well, thats a good work. |
first pic you posted I didn't like at all...however the second set of pics looks great. It's going to look really neat with paint. Keep up the innovative work! |
I think an intercooler right there would look killer to top it off!!! That's the direction I'd like to go eventually when time/money allows. I also need to do more reading on the subject before jumping into it. In the mean time I've got a pretty sweet sbc going into the car this winter. in the pics i can't see the separation between the hood and bumber. you didn't mold them together, did you? lol... just checking nope. The bumper is slightly raised higher than the hood and the gap is very small. how about some side pics? got any more pics of the interior? should have something for you guys in a week or two, I'd like to finish up some more work before posting side pics. i thought people like you bought hondas. normally i'd take that as an insult except for the price of gas now-a-days. if you wanted an integra, or som eother pile, just sell the camaro and buy the import, don't tear up a perfectly good camaro i give you a TON of credit for the amount of work you put into it, but imho it looks like garbage, not the work, just the whole premise. again not a flame, just one mans meager opinion I can see that and I don't want to see anyone tearing up low mileage 91-92 convertibles, anything else should be fair game. If there's anything I can do to avoid the "integra look" let me know cause that's not what I'm trying for. leaving the stickers, neons, and big wings alone of course. |
JeffW- What are those lenses for? Do you have dimensions on them? |

I would never do anything like that to our cars, but I admire the work you put in. The intirior looks killer, nice job. I think the front bumber looks to "plain" under the lights. I think it would look much better with a smaller grill on each side of the the main one. But over all nice job. Any shots of the rear? |
