who said they have to stick out? You can tuck 315s under our fender wells...anythings possible without being white trash and it serves a purpose...

I personally like fat tires...im not white trash either.

sorry guys, didn't realize there was already a thread about this...but i got a few that aren't in that thread..i haven't yet done this to my car, but the day will come...still debating on 18's or skinny/fatties...girl's like the 18's, guys like the fatties....stuck in a tough decision there...

just cuz you got fat tires doesn't mean they have to stick out...theres documents of people shoving 335's under and inside the fenders..

xpndbl3 09-19-2005 10:57 PM

i shove 28x10.50 slicks under mine all the time. :p

i think i have pics on my cardomain site of when the car was in pieces, but who knows.

Draven 09-19-2005 11:57 PM

My baby has wide tires on her, but they don’t stick out.

I personally like them.

Gr89RS 09-20-2005 12:03 AM

Hate to break it to you guys, but those tires do stick out. Our cars were designed to have the wheels tucked inside the fender, not flush with them. Im all for wide tires, I just prefer the tucked look and am yet to see some fat ones tucked the right way. To each his own.

I will show mine, but I guess I am "WHITE TRASH" to some of you. 295/50r15 on 15x10 rim with 4 1/4in. backspace.

I respect the "tucked" look. But I honestly think you guys that are HARDCORE TUCK lovers, need to take it easy. When a tire is .5 inches further out than stock it does not constitute the THOSE STICK WAAAYY OUT comments. IMHO when you stay stuff like that, you sound very close minded. Remeber we are MODing our cars. If we want them stock then 99% of us would not need to be on this website. IT IS SUPPOSED TO LOOK DIFFERNT.

Anyways, now that I got that off my chest. I will post a pic of my tires now. Ther are 335's on 11" rims, mounted to a stock width moser 12 bolt. I am happy to say that I DO think they stick out too much, but once I put 315s on there, they should be fine.

And I do not think it looks white trashy at all. I was going to go through a ton of work to try and get them to tuck more, and everyone that I have shown that liver around here (Needham, MA) have told me to not touch them. People say it looks mean. So I will run these till they wear out. Then go with 315s (goodyear eagle G1s) I think they are called.

here is the pic and I will put on a racing suit to help protect me from the flames.....fire

By the way, the car is a 91, so the aero GFX are not on yet, they will change the look of a chot from this angle a lot.

I will toss another pic on, to get a better idea of the set up.

DigitalMonarch0 09-20-2005 04:47 PM

Hi all,

Glad to see that my car was one of the first that came to mind in this thread. :D

I've got 315's shoved under my car, they stick out less than 1/4" on each side from the fender well. I agree that they should be inside the wheel well... however I am def. not a stock nazi.

The 1/4" on each side will be fixed when I buy my new rear end.

they stick out where the gfx are, but they dont stick out all the way at the top. looks pretty good from right behind from a looking up angle.

ive been thinking about going with stock rims and tires and I cant make up my mind!!!

JungleMan 09-20-2005 10:23 PM

I'm going to take the opposite stance and say that I like the "slightly sticking out or at least flush with the fender flares" look. I've always hated the way our stock wheels tuck into the fenders too far and I was definitely a happy camper when I saw just how well my 275 tires filled in my fender flares. I have to say I didn't like the old 4th-gen-rear-with-3rd-gen-wheels look after a few months (if anyone has ever done this then you'll understand) but I hated the old stock look even more.

To me I have never understood why anyone would want their tires to tuck in to the fender wells and not be flush with the fender flares, despite whether it's true or not, from a looks standpoint a wider stance signifies a higher performance car (just as a lower car does) and tucking the tires into the fender wells makes the car have a narrower stance

Just my two cents...

That being said, I have no real good pics showing off the 275s in the back of my car, but it's not that impressive anyway. Now the 275s in the front don't look any more or less impressive but is really where the beauty of the 275s shows through.

klumb15 09-20-2005 10:29 PM

i love the flush look...thast why i got 2.25" spacers for my 18's...hopefully that does the trick and makes them flush....i like it how on the bottom, the body curves inward, and the wide section of tread is exposed...looks mean...

TransAmMike 09-20-2005 10:47 PM

i love fat tires in the rear, especially when the rear is sitting higher than the front. and i dont consider myself white trash at all. only reason why i dont have that setup is so i can rotate my tires. someday tho.

DigitalMonarch0, you have a damn good lookin camaro. those tires look like C5 tires lol

klumb15 09-20-2005 10:52 PM

how big of tire can you run on a 8" wide rim without it looking stupid, like a balloon....can you run a 275 and keep it looking half way decent? otherwise i gotta run 245's all the way around...

I run 245/60/15 on my 8" rears. They look wider then they really are, and it doesn't look goofy.

klumb15 09-21-2005 09:13 AM

how wide are those rims 18inchboyds?

dennisbernal91z 09-21-2005 10:16 AM

Anybody else think it is kinda hard to tell what "sticking out", "tucked" is since our cars have such a great difference in width from the top of the quarter flare, to the lower middle part just before the GFX?

klumb15 09-21-2005 10:21 AM

you gotta look at the top of the tire, and the top middle of the fender...i also think GM tucked them in too far...

18inchboyds 09-21-2005 11:04 AM

its a 9.5 inch rim , if i had to do it over again id get a 18x9.5 with 6 inches bs and run a 295 35 18 . I want to run a 275 40 18 for the next set of rears but i know they will hit , i was gonna buy the eastwood fender rolling tool but i think the tire will hit the top of the inner fender.

Btw off topic does anyone know how much it is to have a rim rehooped from boyd coddington if i wanted mine to stick in a little further.

Axoid 09-21-2005 11:41 AM

275/40-17s front and rear. :)

335's soon to be 315's

Moded the right way looks great too!

Kandied91z 09-21-2005 03:34 PM

beauty is in the eye of the beholder but it's a good thing you have 17's as you have alot of work to do to fit the tire let alone that rim right. that's half the fun though.

BlueBeast 09-26-2005 06:31 PM

I've got 28x11.5 ET streets that look great althought they dont hook for crap, going full slick hope I don't get caught in the rain lol. no pic yet couldn't download for some reason.

Camaroz29 09-26-2005 07:31 PM

How do you fit 275s up front? My 245s can rub slightly if I want them to. I'll try and get some pics of my rear tires up tonight, my 275s are pretty tucked in. Using 4th gen rear/wheels is probably the reason why.

i8myz28 09-27-2005 07:06 AM

I dont consider it "sticking out" unless the tires actually stick out past the lip of the fender. I prefer the look I call "flush" where the tire fits perfectly under the lip of the fender, almost as if the fender is hugging the tire. I really dont like the "tucked in" look, I think it dosnt look as sporty. To each their own right? Here's mine w/ 275/35/18 rear:

295/50/16's on a set of 85-87 irocs. they are roughly 27.7" tall and about 10" wide. i like them alot!

Whatever DanTheMan_smlk. I said I wasn't done trying to get them to fit. But at least I am trying something. What are you doing that is so "outside the box"? Nothing? Thats what I thought. Shut the hell up and get off these boards. The thread is for pics of people's set ups, not smart *** comments by immature, pre-pubesant little boys. So move on and go play with your hot wheels.

By the way, I am thinking just not worrying about the stick out and buying the Danko wide panels. The makes the rear of the body 1.5" wider. More than enough. What do you guys think.

only 275 for the panels at their site. I think this is the easiest fix. i am pretty sick of cutting and hammering away. i am out of space. the springs are there and so is the frame. I might get more room with coilovers, but I don't wanna cut into the frame.

95% sure about the WB panels for me. I love the huge tires too much to go to anything thinner than 315. With the WB stuff I should be able to run 335 so prob.

BTW, DigitalMonarch0, how did you get your front tires too line up with the upper fender so well...Spacers?

BigWhiteGTP 09-28-2005 03:45 PM

Who sells 275/50r16 or 275/45r16 tires?

A 2" adapter actually, not a spacer.

The difference being that an adapter bolts onto the hub and a spacer just sits in between with no attachment.
