Ignition lock

I have 87 Iroc and the Ignition key will not turn in the steering wheels. Any ideas???

I get that a lot with high mileage stuff.

Before you get crazy, make sure that you grab the steering wheel and rock it to the left and the right while you're trying to turn the key forward. Sometimes the lock rod hangs up in the cylinder catch area.

Thanks I will give that a try. I got AAA on the way also.

AAA locksmith arrived and changed the Ignition lock cylinder (with new keys) and that did the trick. $79.50 for a Sunday morning repair at my house is not to bad in my opinion.

Pretty fast response, as well.

What about the VATS? Did you get a new chip key or a cylinder with the resistor built in?

1987 did not have a Vats system, just the plain old ignition key. Just replaced the Lock cylinder with two new keys and I was happy for what it cost. Thanks again for the reply:driving:
