Re: Ignition lock

I get that a lot with high mileage stuff.

Before you get crazy, make sure that you grab the steering wheel and rock it to the left and the right while you're trying to turn the key forward. Sometimes the lock rod hangs up in the cylinder catch area.

AAA locksmith arrived and changed the Ignition lock cylinder (with new keys) and that did the trick. $79.50 for a Sunday morning repair at my house is not to bad in my opinion.

Re: Ignition lock

Pretty fast response, as well.

What about the VATS? Did you get a new chip key or a cylinder with the resistor built in?

1987 did not have a Vats system, just the plain old ignition key. Just replaced the Lock cylinder with two new keys and I was happy for what it cost. Thanks again for the reply
