Finally finished ground up Knight Rider restoration Hey guys... I know theres not much love for knight rider around here but just wanted to show you my final product! Lots of blood, sweat and tears went into this build... enjoy! https://cimg3.ibsrv.net/gimg/www.thi...3cd45d3381.jpg https://cimg4.ibsrv.net/gimg/www.thi...cb054d9d5e.jpg https://cimg5.ibsrv.net/gimg/www.thi...134e11ed8b.jpg https://cimg6.ibsrv.net/gimg/www.thi...d3125dff35.jpg https://cimg7.ibsrv.net/gimg/www.thi...4115c3bb7a.jpg https://cimg1.ibsrv.net/gimg/www.thi...2effd12686.jpg https://cimg4.ibsrv.net/gimg/www.thi...833a99082d.jpg https://cimg5.ibsrv.net/gimg/www.thi...53468628eb.jpg https://cimg7.ibsrv.net/gimg/www.thi...6d21345bdc.jpg https://cimg8.ibsrv.net/gimg/www.thi...89ccb38226.jpg https://cimg9.ibsrv.net/gimg/www.thi...9c89a15210.jpg https://cimg0.ibsrv.net/gimg/www.thi...1b7529781c.jpg |
Re: Finally finished ground up Knight Rider restoration Not my cup of tea, but it's clean, and looks nicely done. It's probably nicer than the cars used during filming. Well done and congrats on completing your project! |
Re: Finally finished ground up Knight Rider restoration Looks very well done. Probably the best I've seen. KR Interior I've always thought was repulsive in real life. And I don't mind the exterior but prefer OEM. |
Re: Finally finished ground up Knight Rider restoration I'm not a Night Rider fan but yours looks great.:goodjob::thumbsup: |
Re: Finally finished ground up Knight Rider restoration Loved that show as a kid. Probably why I like Trans Ams so much. I think it looks great. Very very clean! |
Re: Finally finished ground up Knight Rider restoration Chris, I think you done a very good job. Something to be proud of for sure! |
Re: Finally finished ground up Knight Rider restoration While I am an OEM guy too, I appreciate you put the effort in and did it right. It shows. It's definitely one of the best examples I've seen. |
Re: Finally finished ground up Knight Rider restoration I'm an OEM guy too... this is my other 82 for when people say i ruined a good car haha https://cimg7.ibsrv.net/gimg/www.thi...ae80237177.jpg |
Re: Finally finished ground up Knight Rider restoration You can't ever have just one... ;) |

Re: Finally finished ground up Knight Rider restoration Amazing job. I love the car and I am definitely a fan... Beautiful work with accuracy for going season 1 on the front and dash all together properly. Congrats. Let me know if you ever need to get rid of it. I have a new 80*60 shop I am building where it would look great. |
Re: Finally finished ground up Knight Rider restoration Looks fantastic! Great job and nice attention to detail! Did you buy the Eagle Gts from Kelsey tire or are they original? I want a set eventually, but at 300+ per tire, I went with BF Radial TAs for now. |
Re: Finally finished ground up Knight Rider restoration That Knight Rider car screams quality! Great attention to detail and very nicely done! Michael Knight would approve!:) |
Re: Finally finished ground up Knight Rider restoration I really like this car. I can appreciate all the sweat and tears that went into the build. One question I have is how much leg room do you have under the "steering yoke". Louis |
Re: Finally finished ground up Knight Rider restoration WOW! Excellent work, it looks great! |
Re: Finally finished ground up Knight Rider restoration Nice job, but I always preferred KARR more. http://orig04.deviantart.net/9b63/f/...ad-d4c4uxk.jpg |
Re: Finally finished ground up Knight Rider restoration Yes, at $350 a pop, it was a hard decision but i just had to have them haha

Re: Finally finished ground up Knight Rider restoration I would love to see a video of the interior with the engine on, any hope of seeing one. Great looking replica, see about entering it in "autonomous car" category at shows now. |
Re: Finally finished ground up Knight Rider restoration gorgeous car. Agree, panel fitment etc. looks better than the onscreen versions. I also liked that you went for a matt finish on the dashboard. I've seen a few with the gloss finish dash and not only must it be a nightmare to drive from all the reflections but also not a fan of how it looks. Now, get out there and fight some crime; one man can make a difference! :) |
Re: Finally finished ground up Knight Rider restoration Very clean and sharp looking car. I can imagine the effort and cost that went into building this replica. Congratulations on seeing it through to completion, it looks superb. |
Re: Finally finished ground up Knight Rider restoration Well done! |

Totally understand. I paid a pretty penny for a clear, non-tint windshield last year. |
Re: Finally finished ground up Knight Rider restoration If you don't mind, where did you get the front bumper grilles for the fog lights? I was going to make my own grilles for my KR bumper but want to look into what's available. |
Re: Finally finished ground up Knight Rider restoration I made them |
Re: Finally finished ground up Knight Rider restoration Just WOW! I love the Knight Rider exterior! What a great car! |
Re: Finally finished ground up Knight Rider restoration Nicest Night Rider Car I have seen, are those 15 inch rims. |
Re: Finally finished ground up Knight Rider restoration Wow!! That is an amazing job. What a great attention to detail. Well done Chris. I mean Micheal, I mean kitt. You know what I mean! |

Re: Finally finished ground up Knight Rider restoration By the way, there is a picture on this site of a 3rd gen gathering in Italy and I swear that every damn car was a KITT car. If you ever want to sell it then you know where the buyers are. ;) |
Re: Finally finished ground up Knight Rider restoration VERY NICE Chris !!! The camera tow bar, Clear non ASA tint line windshield, Screen accurate $$$ EAGLE GT tires are the little touches that tell me that you were SERIOUS on the build and spared NO expense !!! NICE WORK IMO redoing the B20 camel tan interior is the HARDEST with these cars ! Dave |
Re: Finally finished ground up Knight Rider restoration It's fixed now :)... Billy Gunter for the interior, marc brown for the bumper https://cimg9.ibsrv.net/gimg/www.thi...cf1ca6da56.jpg |
Re: Finally finished ground up Knight Rider restoration Here's a video walk around |
Re: Finally finished ground up Knight Rider restoration I love it! Beautiful work. I've always liked Knight Rider and good conversions are just so rare. |
Re: Finally finished ground up Knight Rider restoration Why couldn't the 80's last forever? :( While I was born in 85, I still have fond memories of watching Knight Rider and Quantum Leap at my grandparents house... |
Re: Finally finished ground up Knight Rider restoration Looks great! I'm a big Knight Rider fan. I hope to build one some day. I want to do a 3rd and 4th season style. I had an 84 that I had built the light bar, changed out the front end and got the rear tint piece for the tail lights. The car was too rusty to really do anything with and I ended up letting it all go together about 10 years ago. Regretted ever letting the parts go with the car, but they were already mounted and I didn't have the original bumper to put back on since I sold it. Here's a picture of mine when I had it. https://s25.postimg.org/y8ote50pb/HPIM0733.jpg https://s25.postimg.org/hyynb8q1b/HPIM0736.jpg |
Re: Finally finished ground up Knight Rider restoration Omg... look at that dash!!!! What a job, amazing work. |
Re: Finally finished ground up Knight Rider restoration Amazing-from the Goodyear Eagle gt tires to the non tinted windshield and the tan Parella cloth seats-very well done!!! |
Re: Finally finished ground up Knight Rider restoration Great job, looks amazing |

Re: Finally finished ground up Knight Rider restoration Cool car. How many hours have you worked on your car? |
Re: Finally finished ground up Knight Rider restoration I loved the show as a kid just as I did the Dukes of Hazard. Beautiful KITT car. I don't remember the tow bars....what are the purpose of them and were they on the TV car? |
Re: Finally finished ground up Knight Rider restoration The tow bar was never part of KITT. It was a device installed on the film cars for a camera rig truck to tow the car for front camera shots. However, since the film crew left the bars on the cars, you would always see them, so many have them on their replicas. I don't have one on my car because I simply don't like it. On one hand though, if installed correctly, could be used to actually tow your car if need be. |
