anyone ever stuff a 12" woofer inside the area where the rear glove box is? Has anyone ever built a box to house a 12" sub that rest inside the area where the rear glove box is located. I really want a to add a 12" woofer to the rear of my car but I do not want it exposed at all. Is trying to put one their a bad idea for sound or is there just not enough room? How much space is need for the average 12" woofer, 1 cu ft? Oh and I do not want to cut any of my sail panels to do this. I can loose the glove box though and I cant use the passenger side since that will be the new home for a nitrous bottle. |

I have a fiberglass box for that area, but it only holds up to a 10" with .5 cu.ft. of airspace. If you really made it complicated, you could get some extra airspace out of the small well area below, but I don't see fitting the actual 12" cone between the hatch and the trunk shelf, it's just too tall. If you moved the cone toward the side of the car so the bottom of the surround was actually below the line of the trunk shelf, then you would have even more limited mounting depth. to summarize.... Good Luck! |
thanks for the tip. The only problemwith me using a 10" woofer if the fact that I already have a 12" woofer. I guess if push came to shove, I could get a 10 but it would have to be a really good one. |
Can you get a nitrous bottle that will fit in the driver side, and then use the pass side for your sub? That might be the better option. |
Not sure if a 10lb bottle will fit in there but I will check on it |
yeah I do not think the bottle fits in the drivers side. In such a small enclosyre, you would have to have a ported box to somewhat keep the CF smaller. Too little CF for the sub will make it sound weaker than a 10 with the proper CF. |
Actually ported boxes require more airspace. The super small box for the 12 wouldn't sound weak, it would just sound really loud and annoying.:( |
a good 10"? i have Solo Baric's in mine... DAAAMN loud for a 10" but yeah a 12" is nice |
...or a W7 could fit as well. |
