upgraded custom sub box

i have been thinking about getting some really intense subwoofers. my plan is to get 2 12's, but the guy i am buying them off of (an audio expert, has been doing it since he was about 16) advised me that with the normal custom box for my car would rattle my hatch so bad that it could break my hatch up, and im looking for somthing different anyway. i was thinking about making my own average custom sub box with the subs facing upwards, and extending it up and towards the front. it would involvve wood covering the hatch window so that the subs would face the front of the car....has anybody ever heard of this? also, if i do it, is anybody interested in specs/ how it works out?

there is one guy who has a wall of speakers behind the front seats. is that what you are talking about?

Unless you're doing jackhammers you won't shatter your hatch. Use dynamat properly and you'll be fine, the box you're tlking about made from mdf will be veryblarge and very heavy, additionally if you used the entire space you would have way too much air space for the subs, the worst I've come across is ny hatch release being actuated

i have it almost completed, and yes it kind of is a wall of speakers up to the back seats. it came out kind of smaller than i expected, but it is a pretty large box. i will be posting pictures soon after carpeting and put in the subs and amp

Why two 12's? Did you consider one 12 ported with good xmax range?

Single 12" ID Max or XCON would have moved a lot of air. :)

i like the way two subs sound compared to a single sub, and i think it looks cooler. its going to be about 8000 wats between the two of them, it should pound pretty hard
