how would i upgrade my stock q-jet

I have heard that my stock q-jet can manage alot of power if you do a couple things to it, but what are those things? I wanna put a 350 in place of my 305 and am afraid that my carb wont be able to handle it.

You're Carb will easily handle it. Quadrajet's found on 305's had up to 795-cfm, with some even finding their way over 800. When you install you're new 350, you'll have to go the ole 'trial and error' method..... and experiment.

You'll need a new set of metering rods, and a decent mechanical fuel pump. Don't forget to adjust you're stock fuel float, otherwise you'll find yourself bogging and stalling.....

Should work fine. Q-jets are self compensating. The primaries will work just like normal. The secondary air valves will open more on the 350 than the 305 allowing more air and also more fuel (via lifting metering rods higher). I wouldn't be suprised if the Q-jet in stock calibration couldn't be used on a 454. If you are worried about leaning out find some DR rods off a vin code H 305 in a 1982-1984 chevy van and a "F" hanger from a 1988 cadillac brougham with an olds 307. Works real well.
