Help me put the rest of my motor together
 

Hello forum, i just dropped a rebuilt 305 engine in my car and decided to say screw the crossfire injection and pulled out the harness. Now im sitting here with my **** in my hand looking at a pretty new engine, with no intake or carb.

Ill do a cam swap a little later down the road, but right now i want to have all my basics covered to start driving, and having respectable power, as much as a budget built respect can be.

Im looking at options, Im able to conjure up about 500 bucks for my carb setup. Can the seasoned pro's give me some best reccommended parts, as much usuable power and quality, thanks, Joshua

You'll have a lot of that $500 left over if you buy an Edlebrock 2101 intake and a used Q jet carb.

Quick, cheap, easy, effective solution.

i like the torker II edelbrock single plane. its low profile fits neat under the hood and its realitivy inexpensive, also edle brock carbs are easy to set up and tune. youll end up spending about 400 if you buy new, then there is always craigslist.

i think summit has intake/ carb kits, not sure if they are in your budget or not but its worth a look

It's also relatively worthless. You don't need a low profile, low flow, narrow powerband intake on a 3rd gen SBC. A drop base air cleaner takes care of any hood clearance nicely.

You need a non-computer, vacuum/mechanical advance distributor as well if you go with an aftermarket carb.

The only legal options are EFI, or computer controlled q-jet. You should be able to pick up a complete removed CC carb system for less than your budget, with enough left over for gaskets, hoses, carb rebuild kit, and the like.
