strange cooling problem

My car seems to start running hot once I've been driving a while. The strange thing is that it heats up more when I am moving, not at idle. The car actually cools down when I am stopped at a light for a while. What would cause this? I dont have the air dam in front is this why? Any suggestions would be helpful.

I would normally be hesitant about taking advice from some hill billy Texan, but he's right. :sillylol: The air damn is a must.

my car did that once make sure to ahve the coolant system filled with coolant or water (water is cheaper but boils quicker than coolant) if you dont have enough coolant in it than the system wont cool no matter what high priced high performance coolign prducts you ahve. i filled up my cooling system and the prob went away only to come back b/c my raditor leaks.

I have no problem with a coolant leak, its always full. If I do need an air dam where can one be purchased and how much are they?

I've heard prices for used dams of about $20. If you can find some reasonably stiff, yet flexible, rubber sheet or strip, you may be able to make your own. Just find a way to attach it at the bottom front of the radiator. It should stick down into the airflow maybe 6" I think. Also, angle it forward a little bit if possible, think of a small snow plow. Angling it toward the rear will not work. Then get used to parking without hitting it on curbs or wheel stops.
