temp guage goes up and down...up and down And its been going on since it got cold:huh: (so that may be it,double checking to be sure) Anyway, its got a 180 stat in it and when I warm it in the morning its fine. After I get about 3 miles down the road the stat will suddenly max out and hang for a few seconds (somewhere between 30-60) then drop down to normal. It'll do this 2-3 times on the way to work(about 15 miles). I've only noticed it in the morning(which is why I thing the outside air temp is involved) and theres never any sounds of "boil over" when its maxed out(the first few times it did it I pulled over to see what was going on). So could the cold air be causing the stat to try and stick?   |
Sounds like a sticking thermostat, not exactly due to an air pocket under it. Try replacing it and see where that goes. |
But it was only sticking when it was cold out(teens-20's).Today its in the 50's and it's fine. Should I swap out the 180 for a 190 during the winter?Or is it something I can get away with that wont cause damage? |
Hell...just blew my temp theory! It's in the 60's today and it started acting up again. :( I bought a failsafe 190 to put on sometime this week. |
