Adapting A Aluminum Radiator
 

Does anyone have experience in adapting an aluminum radiator (non-stock) to a 1985 IROC-Z.
Recently I bought from Summit Racing one of the "universal-fit" radiator but used wrong measurements and now have problems to install it.
The dimensions are:
31"L X 19"H 2-7/8"W
I noticed there is a tubing that come from the Power steering that is very close to the "stock radiator".
Additionally the radiator don't reach the bottom or the lower tie bar center where it must rest.

Why don't you just return it and get the one made for our cars?
I just bought the Summit one for our cars for $277. Great ****ing deal, and great quality!

Thanks Tommy, but return will cost more than buy a new one. This because I'm abroad (Panama, Central America).

I'm not sure exactly what problems your having but I'll help where I can.

The fact that the powersteering tubes are near the radiator shouldn't be a problem, if your really worried about it, you can buy some plastic wire tubing from summit or an auto parts store.

Your stock radiator had 2 rubber mounts on the bottom of it. I would re-use those, they don't have to fit perfectly. If the radiator you have is too short I would make some spacers for your rubber mounts. You could use something as easy as a couple blocks of wood. Screw the mounts to the wood and screw the wood to the bottom or 'lower tie bar center' as you put it. HTH
