Question about this radiator Looking to replace my blown radiator with this one from Summit Racing : http://www.summitracing.com/parts/SUM-380331/ A quick overview of the many benefits over a stock 1" thick rad, it has a dual row, 2.25" thick core, all aluminum instead of plastic tanks. And with these hoses for upper and lower: http://www.summitracing.com/parts/MRG-11010B/ My concern is that there is no outlet for heater hoses, I also can't see where the outlet near the filler neck is for an overflow tank. My question: What are my options for plumbing my heater hoses and overflow tank if I get this radiator? I don't mind doing some modifications to my plumbing or the radiator, but if it's extensive or difficult I may pass this rad up. Thanks |
Re: Question about this radiator http://www.summitracing.com/parts/SUM-380455/ Forget about direct fit, it's not a direct fit at all. It will work though and has heater hose connections. https://www.thirdgen.org/forums/cool...-radiator.html Why is everyone always buying those "ribbed for her pleasure" hoses? |
Re: Question about this radiator I did actually see that thread, but the radiator I posted is part number 380331 and the one in that post you linked to is 380455. I believe the difference is the one I posted has no tranny cooler and is $150 whereas the one in the other thread is $300 and has a tranny cooler, there may be other differences. |
Re: Question about this radiator It also doesn't have heater hookups but the dimensions are similar, won't fit properly. |
Re: Question about this radiator well I got on the phone with a guy from summit and we spoke for a good while, it seems after all they are the same radiator! This one I posted is simply a stripped down race version with no tranny cooler, no extra bungs or drain plugs, and no overflow tank bung. The only reason someone should buy this race one I posted is if they want to practice their welding skills, it can't be used for normal street driving as it sits. The dimensions are exactly the same, I had the guy measure both while I waited on the phone and he said they are both exactly the same overall width and height. I hope this helps anyone else who may be deciding which radiator to go with, I ended up simply buying the $80 at pepboys (my local auto parts store) with a lifetime warranty since I never had cooling issues with the crappy stock one anyway. This upgrade will have to wait. Thanks for the replies Twin_Turbo! |
