Replace Heater Core or Repair Original One?

I am going to be repairing my heater and I expect that my car has the original core in there. It is leaking into the passenger floor foot area when the heater runs. I have shops nearby that can repair it rather than I buy a new replacement. Is the OEM heater core better quality than replacement ones today? Is it too old?

It would depend on where it's leaking... If the core is corroded away, a repair would be costly. If it's leaking at one of the joints, around the end caps or the inlet/outlet tubes, it'd be easy to clean up and solder the joint closed again.

I’d fix the original if you can. The tubes on replacement ones don’t fit like the original. The tube bends on some are way off.
