2132 AZRC PROM the right one for my LH0 engine?

Hi,

does anyone know if the AZRC prom is the right one for my LH0 3.1 engine with vin "T"?

I could not find the AZRC prom in the following list:

http://3rdgenformula.com/90/promcodes.htm

Thanks.

It would work in a 730 ecm but it came from a 727.

Thanks.

Yes, you are right. It works in the 730 ecm which is installed in my Firebird.

But I am wondering if it is a good idea to leave the ecm as it is. The AZRC prom has been never produced for the "f" platform.

There are also a lot of differences in between the LH0 and LG5 engines (Turbo, ignition coil an so on).

Should I buy an appropriate prom for my LH0 engine?

I'm going to move this thread to the DFI & ECM board, better suited there.

The LG5 engine should be DIS, which means on a LH0 the ignition timing will be way off. I've known folks to open the EST/BYPASS to get around this (temporary fix).

If your car is a stick shift look for a BAWX MEMCAL. If it is an auto (700R4) look for an AZTY MEMCAL.

Thanks, RBob.

I found 13 other proms which could be used for my LH0 from 1990 and auto transmission:

ALSZ
ALTD
ARPM
ARPN
ATFM
ATFN
ATXF
ATXH
AUJW
AUJX
AYCF
AYCH
AZTX

I think AZTY is the newest one? This is why you recommend this prom?

Azty was the latest .bin . The gm part is 16171406 looks to be nla but you should have luck locating one in the classifieds.

If you can't find one let me know, I can reprogram a memcal with that .bin

Hey guys

I also found out that my V6 3.1 LH0 Firebird 1990' was running an AZRC.
It's an automatic transmission so I decided to buy the AZTY PROM module. Can I just swap the PROM or do I need change the ECU completely?

Thanks.

I noticed that the scan id 721 is not only for the AZRC prom. It stands also for the AUJW prom which fits to my Firebird. So I have to look at the prom in order to find out if it is really an AZRC prom at first.

I could not imagine that GM uses the same scan id for two prom units which both work with a 3.1 engine.

For my german friend here who bought his first Firebird seven years ago:

Nein, du brauchst nicht das ganze Steuergerät tauschen. Du kannst das alte behalten. Hab dir heute geschrieben, dass die ID 721 auch ein AUJW sein kann. Das wusste ich gestern noch nicht.
