Please help me decide I am finally getting ready to start tuning and am in the process of buying hardware. Right now im thinking about the ostrich and the moates aldl cable. If I only plan on messing with my one car is there a reason i should go the autoprom route. I heard someone say something about how with the ostrich and seperate aldl you could use different programs to datalog I assume that would be a good thing. this is my first time and ill be doing on a 165 but plan to change to 730 later for boost capabilities, so if you have any suggestion let me know. |
Re: Please help me decide You need to look into the EBL from DynamicEFI, hands down the best. |
Re: Please help me decide How does the ebl flash have an advantage over an emulator like ostrich. I think the real question I have is do I need to have a "hard copy" or can I trust the ostrich will always work because once I switch ecm's I will no longer have an original prom and will be relying on it. |
Re: Please help me decide I've been running the Ostrich 2.0 in my Datsun (1227749 running $59) for a little over two years now. I haven't experienced any hiccups. |
Re: Please help me decide alright I guess im sold on it then all I need is the Ostrich 2.0 and a g1 adapter and that will cover everything I need to tune plus an aldl cable to datalog and im set right. Theres no small things I dont know about that I need to buy right. |
Re: Please help me decide Yep, sounds right. The Moates ALDL cable works nice. I also use Tuner Pro RT for a tuning program. |
Re: Please help me decide I won't argue with success, & the Moats gear has the advantage of being able to use your own, or others, custom definition files and transportability from one rig to another. I feel that the EBL has the advantage in ease of use, the WUD, tune on the fly and of course VE learn capability & user defined add-on's. I also use TunerproRT (v4) for editing. |
Re: Please help me decide well I ordered my ostrich and supporting gear cant wait to get it this may be the only sticker to ever make it on my car. I was somewhat enticed by the ebl but decided to start with stuff thats been around for ever, for when I need help. |
