No Power, turned key it all went dead.

Car was running fine. Turned the key to start it, everything lit up, and the car just went dead. Battery has power, no power anywhere, like the battery is disconnected. Ground is good. Did a fuseable link go? Suggestions on where to start looking?

Well after 43 views, no one has a clue obviously. I did disconnect the wires from the starter, bought some new fuseable link and will splice that in. Don't understand why the Engineers just didn't fuse the wiring up top instead of fuseable links below. PITA. Well let's see if this works....

Igorealfast, Im going to assume this is normal....as with mine i have my starter out atm. And nothing comes on...but when i just wired up the old crap starter, everything started recieving power again.

Try checking the fuse up by the battery, it is kind of hidden by the headlights in a small case.

I had the exact same issue on my car last year. This might sound simple, but have you checked your battery connections? Take them out and clean them off. Some simple corrosion in there can cause the fuseable link to crap out when the load is applied at start up.

Brand new battery, and clean connections. Cut out the fuseabale links, replaced them, and everything works fine now.

the fuse by the battery is for the fuel pump relay, in case you didnt know. the main battery wire goes to the starter, and has all the fusable links that come off the starter and go into the car. is common for these to give out over time, or the contacts to corrode since its under the car and constantly getting splashed with road grime. if possible, you might wanna coat the connections with a silicone grease to help cut down on future corrosion.

Yea I know, but a lot of people including me have had that fuse blow or melt and would cause the car to not start.

Here is a great place to look just had this issue myself. ALTERNATOR sounds odd it had a bad diode which can not be tested. Changed the car runs great no more dead battery.

he wasnt having a starting issue, he was having a no power issue. but yes, if the fuel pump isnt working then that would be the first place to look.

Bumpy Ride

The most likely cause of your problem is a loose or dirty connection on the + battery cable at the starter.

When you see fog or “running” lights on in good weather beware. WLow performance driver ahead.

Cruisin’ 4 A Fusin’

Fusible Links usually look like a one inch plastic rod in line with the wire and are located near the battery or at the starter.
