Starter motor wiring

Starter was working fine, until i removed it to make a shim.
Now... nothing happens when the key is turned.

My starter motor has 3 terminals.
1 is to negative side of battery.
1 is to positive side of battery.
There is a smaller gage red wire to the positive terminal.
There is a smaller gage white wire that I didn't mark.
If assuming that goes to the small terminal on the starter, but when
I connect it there, nothing happens.

Any ideas?

Also, I put some grease on the custom shim as a rust preventative.
I assume that would not effect grounding.

Starting Trouble

You can use an ohmmeter to make sure the starter is grounded.

Then:

As long as you have power to the Main terminal and to the solenoid, it should spin.

Happy Racing!

Is this for a stock 3rdgen starter? (your post or profile does not say)
Because the stock starter is grounded through the engine block and thus does not need a negative cable, as you mention. So make sure you have the cabling right, this does not sound correct (again, assuming a stock setup).

You may have put the little wire on the wrong post (been there done that) in which case when you hit the key it will do nothing since it kicks in the solenoid.

You are correct! I brought it to my mechanic today (before seeing your e-mail)
Thing is... the other small post was obstructed from view.
I didn't even remember there were 2 posts.
Feeling pretty stupid.
Man... it is tough to be human sometimes!
