Complete 1987 Trans am, parting out

I have decided that parting my T/A would be the best move for me financially, so everything is up for grabs.

It has a L98 engine, mildly built 700r4, and a bw 9 bolt rear with 3.27 ratio. I am open to selling any parts needed, you name it.

On the engine: I was under the impression that I had blown a head gasket when coolant and white smoke went everywhere, predominately from the coolant resovior. My mechanic, who hasnt been wrong for me yet, told me it was the thermostat. I check it, and it was bad. Checked oil to be sure, no coolant in oil, smelled slightly burned, but nothing horrible. In the process of changing the thermostat, I broke a bolt off in the manifold and that B**** just won't come out for me. It also had a bad distributor, but I have a new one that I was going to install.

Feel free to ask any questions and make offers, I can send pics of anything upon request.

:hmmm: Those parts, I do not have. Took them out when I went to the track one day and never saw them again.

Sorry about that.

t/b and plenum?

Re: Complete 1987 Trans am, parting out

I'd take $85 plus shipping, including the tps sensor and iac valve. I aslo have a fully ported, but not siamiesed plenum, that has never been used and is powdercoated black that I could substitute in for an additional $35.

Forgot to mention, I aslo have 4 15" chrome eagle claw rims with 4 nearly new tires (1 month of use as a weekend car) that I will sell as well.

Re: Complete 1987 Trans am, parting out

No foglight wiring harness either. I knew it wasn't 100% complete, but I didn't figure that I would be asked about the few things I don't have. Sorry guys, but at least now you know what I don't have.

Re: Complete 1987 Trans am, parting out

Looking for $500 for complete engine, needs just a the little probs fixed. and $600 for tranny. Prices are a bit high because I don't want/can't take them out myself . I would have to pay someone. I will do $1000 for them together, or will sell the whole car for $1000. Trying to get it gone pretty soon; really want that vette.

Make offers on anything you need

Do you have a quick ratio steering box? Price and shipping to 56754?

Re: Complete 1987 Trans am, parting out

Cylinder heads are still on car. I was hoping to not break apart the engine, rather I wanted to sell as a complete drop in. Will let you know if anything changes.

I couldn't tell you if I have a quick ratio box or not, nor do I know how to check, maybe you could help me with that. All I know is I drove it without Power steering hooked up and didn't have too much trouble with it.

It is a quick ratio if it has XH or WS stamped on it.

Guys, I'm going to have to get back to y'all on this a bit later, maybe I can get to it over the weekend. I am selling another car right now thats had a ton of hits, I just got the loan for the car I'm buying, and there's some buglary thing in our town right now that has stopped mail and locked all the schools down. I will get back to all of you as soon as I can.
