To replace the stock rag joint with a "solid" setup. Adds stiffness and response to your steering

Difficulty of install?

Re: Jeep cherokee steering shafts

Very simple, the only thing needed to do is to grind a little of the top part of the steering wheel connector so the bolt slides through

Re: Jeep cherokee steering shafts

What exactly did you need to weld on the XJ shaft? Those are basically bolt in as is. Just curious...

Re: Jeep cherokee steering shafts

Typically I'll throw a bead on the upper part of the shaft that "turns" to create a more solid connection. Basically weld the middle upper shaft to the coupler. If I feel it needs it, I do if the middle shaft is good and tight, I'll leave it be

I'm very interested in a modified astro shaft from a non AWD astro. How long does it normally take for you to get one and get it ready for a plug and play? And how much?

Re: Jeep cherokee steering shafts

I can have one ready in a few days, I can let them go for $60 shipped

Truthfully there's not much difference at all in them. The Astro shaft is a touch beefier but that's about it.

Haven't had a chance to get any but I'll be heading out today. We've been getting hit with some nasty snow so it's been difficult lol

Re: Jeep cherokee steering shafts

what are the odds, I just bought a cherokee and the joint is pretty corroded and concerns me.

Would this still work in a xj or does the mod prevent it?

robertfrank 01-11-2017 06:34 PM

Re: Jeep cherokee steering shafts

Do you mean the cherokee shaft is going in a jeep?

TylerSteez 01-11-2017 07:02 PM

Re: Jeep cherokee steering shafts
