Re: NEW! 82-92 Tachometer circuit boards Stupid question...my tach in my '88 5.7 TPI works, but reads several hundred RPM too high, and it gets worse the higher up you rev the car. Would this correct the problem, and is it an easy job to swap the board? |
Re: NEW! 82-92 Tachometer circuit boards I'm liking this! I've done a lot of work on my car, but I haven't tackled (pun) the tach. Mine reads about 5800 rpms at all times. Even with the battery out of the car. It never moves. Do you think I could install one of your new boards, and revive it? Could we get a wee tutorial on how to complete the job? Spring-compressors, and the full weight of the car hanging over me on $16 jack stands doesn't faze me. I get a little quivver in my belly when I get near electronics. |

Re: NEW! 82-92 Tachometer circuit boards Just curious, do you perform a similar service for the speedo circuit board? The speedo in my '92 T/A has a little bounce in it (particularly around 50-60 mph). It seems to read about 10% too high as well. I use those radar advisory boards (?) and if my speedo says 27, the radar says 30. At higher speeds it stays at about 10% off of what the radar says. Additionally, if I press the trip odo to reset it, the odometer won't work for a few miles. Even then, I don't think it counts correctly. I replaced the VSS and it still has the same issue. |
Re: NEW! 82-92 Tachometer circuit boards Do you know if getting your new board will get my odometer working again. All the gauges work except for the odometer. Let me know if getting the new board will help? Thanks |
Re: NEW! 82-92 Tachometer circuit boards Unfortunately not. The tachometer circuit board is completely independent of the speedometer. I believe there is a thread on here about fixing that problem though. |
Re: NEW! 82-92 Tachometer circuit boards I have read and followed the speedo thread. Unfortunately, that one deals with the mechanical gears. I checked mine and they are in good working order without any of the wearing or broken pieces that are commonly found. Kind of perplexing and aggravating. |

Re: NEW! 82-92 Tachometer circuit boards I see you said 82-92 Camaros but are these the same for trans ams? |
Re: NEW! 82-92 Tachometer circuit boards unfortunately not. I only have circuit boards for camaros right now. Do you have a pic of a trans am circuit board? I would be willing to look at it and see if it is something i can reproduce. Thanks, Greg |
Re: NEW! 82-92 Tachometer circuit boards im running the factory tach off of a full MSD ignition system with the 6al box. tach output comes from the box itself, but the tach is still reading lighter than it should be. is this board ok to run with the MSD box, and will it allow me to fine tune? |
Re: NEW! 82-92 Tachometer circuit boards i'm not 100% sure it will or won't work. but i can send you a new circuit board to try out if you want. |
Re: NEW! 82-92 Tachometer circuit boards damn sorry man Its been so long I forgot, I ordered one from another place after seeing the ones on ebay for even more than this other vendor , hate it cause this is a good price . |
Re: NEW! 82-92 Tachometer circuit boards No problem. Just curious, but where did you buy it from? Thanks! Greg |

Re: NEW! 82-92 Tachometer circuit boards I'm about to install a T56 in my '88 IROC, which means I'll be pulling the cluster in order to accommodate the "magic box" that will convert the VSS signal from the transmission to a cable drive for the speedometer. Sounds like a good time to install one of your tachometer boards. Do you still have them available for an '88 IROC-Z? If you like, PM me...I'd be interested in purchasing one in the next few days. |
Re: NEW! 82-92 Tachometer circuit boards PayPal sent...Thanks! |
Re: NEW! 82-92 Tachometer circuit boards Received it today...that was fast! |
Re: NEW! 82-92 Tachometer circuit boards Is there any still available for a 91 Camaro ? |
Re: NEW! 82-92 Tachometer circuit boards Absolutely. Is it a V6 or a V8? thanks, Greg |

Re: NEW! 82-92 Tachometer circuit boards Hey greg… just your order from Ebay… didn't know you had a TGO account. GREAT GREAT PRODUCT SIR! worked right out of the box and I would suggest Cajun tach shop to ANYONE with a third gen. tach works perfect now after years of wondering what RPM I was at. I would shut down at 3K thinking I was 4-4500 on dial... turns out I had been shortening my throws waaay too much. now im 100% confident in my shifting. if you have been waiting this tach board, I HIGHLY suggest Greg here |
Re: NEW! 82-92 Tachometer circuit boards THANKS 1992RedZVert !!! |

Re: NEW! 82-92 Tachometer circuit boards Whats the word on Firebird/TA tachs? My '86 tach works when it wants to. Sometimes works fine. Sometimes slowly comes up to idle but doesn't react to revs. Other times doesn't even move. Running MSD Ignition if that changes anything. |
Re: NEW! 82-92 Tachometer circuit boards Pm sent |
Re: NEW! 82-92 Tachometer circuit boards Around what age or mileage does the tach board usually fail? |

Re: NEW! 82-92 Tachometer circuit boards do you still have one for an 88 IROC with a 305? Also, how much does it take to install? I noticed in an earlier post you mentioned moving the posts, do i have to relocate them? or will it just plug in |

Re: NEW! 82-92 Tachometer circuit boards Free bump for you. I ordered a tach circuit board from you off eBay for my 89 IROC. It was a perfect fit and it fixed the tach. Before, it would peg at 7000 rpm anytime the engine was running. After the install, I used my old Tech 1 and compared the two rpms and it was dead on at multiple points on the gauge. Awesome product! So nice to have a working tach again. |
