Buick GN Drive trains I have the opportunity to trade for some Buick GN stuff. Specifically 2 complete motors, trans, and harnesses and computers, and one additional motor. My question is how hard will it be to install into a 3rd gen Fire Bird or Camaro. ------------------ 2E,87 Formula 350,with coolant bypass and 160 thermostat and chip. 1986 Z28 with 327 & 202 heads and 5 speed, and usually 4 or 5 others Camaro's & 3 Firebirds to fix, Drive, or sell. |
I posed a almost the same question a while back. You will need to change the trans, ecm, wiring harness, motor mounts and a bunch of misc items. It will take some work, but if done right well worth it. https://www.thirdgen.org/messgboard/...ML/000453.html |
the heads are also different |
Of course the heads are different, they're V6 heads https://www.thirdgen.org/messgboard/smile.gif . I think he's talking about takin' the 350 out and putting in the GN's turbo 3.8, man those things kick *** , good luck. |
No, the GN head will not work in a F-body. You have to use heads out of a olds cierra i believe or from a TTA. That would be the biggest cost factor. |
You can use GN heads but you can't use A/C and you'll have to Fab a Downpipe but they fit otherwise. ------------------ Mike 1989 Turbo Trans-Am 11.25@121.25 Daily Driver 1998 Trans-Am LS1 6 Speed 13.10@106 Slow POS sitting in the Driveway awaiting repairs and then its For Sale. It's all in the FAQs, about 1/4 way down the page. https://www.thirdgen.org/newdesign/faq/thirdgen.shtml |
