Custom Camaro Hood Lets see your custom HOOD on a Camaro! Me and my brother are thinking about customizing my current camaro hood.. ill post some pics of the design |
|
Here is a hood I bought from a guy on the forums. Its a fiberglass cowl hood. http://memimage.cardomain.net/member...88_49_full.jpg http://memimage.cardomain.net/member...88_43_full.jpg |
Here are some more pics... just need to add some side peices and weld em up and were good to go! http://oscatalepticos.net/gallery/al...CN0001_004.jpg http://oscatalepticos.net/gallery/al...CN0002_003.jpg http://oscatalepticos.net/gallery/al...CN0003_002.jpg http://oscatalepticos.net/gallery/al...CN0014_002.jpg http://oscatalepticos.net/gallery/al...CN0016_001.jpg http://oscatalepticos.net/gallery/al...CN0017_001.jpg NOT DONE YET! My Brother still needs to weld a matching steel plate on the sides. http://oscatalepticos.net/gallery/al...CN0018_002.jpg http://oscatalepticos.net/gallery/al...CN0019_002.jpg |
............... not even gonna say anything.. i'll let the rest of them start in on ya |
Don't wanna sound like an a$$.... but I don't see how in the world that could look good. Even with side metal or anything like that. That is just my opinion. The shapes are too small and don't go with the body lines at all. I think the flat hood would have looks better left alone. Maybe make the openings WAY smaller. and add a normal cowl hood scoop or and inverted heat extractor kinda thing. But like I said, just my opinion.... Your turn Rabbitt....hehe. |
Im not understanding.. is something more to be done with it ? You aren't seriously considering leaving the hood like that are you ? If so, i'd tell you to break out that lil dremel and keep cutting. Make a unique design all the way up the hood.. something.. anything.. |
I think it looks unique! biznatches! wait till it is complete |
unique and good are TWO very different things. Yes, I agree it is unique... just ***-ugly... I cant think of any good way to rectify that hood.. if you were maybe looking for an excuse to get a cowl hood/ss hood/big block hood/iroc hood... you've got one now |
Oh dear sweet jesus. |

yikes.....whatever floats your boat man. |
Honestly, that reminds me of the day that my hood vents flew off on the highway. I was haulin *** on an open highway doing about 90, when all of a sudden, my hood vents decided to uproot and unceremoniously fly over the roof and onto the highway. I was shocked by it, but I couldn't help but wonder where the machine guns were like in the michael Keaton Batmobile... http://www.chickslovethecar.com/imag...d/machine8.jpg http://www.chickslovethecar.com/imag...d/machine2.jpg As you can imagine... no machine guns were to be found under my hood vents... But that would have been freakin cool!!! |
Yeah that would have been sick.....hehe back to the hood "MOD". good that you are trying new things, but you have to really plan out things like this. Would have helped a lot if you had someone who can draw, make you a sketch of this set up. In my opinion, make the openings smaller. add sides and wents in front, and DEFINETLY make sure the car has some kind of venting to the intake to make them funcional. |
guidelines are for all to read :) Especially ones with info like this.... Keep Attachments to a minimum. Pease take advantage of the web hosting space your ISP has alloted for you. Whenever possible, upload your images to your ISP instead of attaching the image to your post. Attaching images is acceptable and encouraged, but if you are going to use the image more than once or twice, please do the ThirdGen.Org server a favor and host it somewhere else. Please do not abuse the attachment feature and do not post/attach more than 3 images per thread. Instead, link to your web space so that others can view the images there. |
LOL true. I counted 11 pics allready. I honestly don't think we needed to see the flat hood, or the cutting ACCTUALLY happening. :o Oh well, It will all be worth it, if this thing even sort of looks ok. |
i think that looks okay just decrease the angle alittle bit, add the sides and some vents in the front. If I get a chance to work with the new version of autocad I will try to draw something up to enhance the look alittle. Jay |
Thats exacly what I said a few posts ago. |
Great minds think alike. Jay:thumbsup: |

Pretty much referring to the 3 images per thread. When I click on this thread more then 3 images appear from the thread starter. Figured a Link should be there instead for that amount of pics. Maybe I'm misunderstanding it but oh well its the mods who will say something if its a problem. :) |
1 Attachment(s) there is a key word to this... ATTACHMENTS.. go to post, look down towards the bottem of the reply area.. see Attach File:? That would be what the 3 pic rule is refering to. The pictures on this thread are all linked from another website.. right click on a picture in this thread and look at its properties.. you will see that it isnt hosted on this website.. below is an example of an attached file.. see Rabbitt has attached this image:?? now you know how to recognize the difference.. also, you can only attach one file per post, but u can link a whole bunch (like ten or so).. hope i helped |
Got it thnx for clearing that up. :) |
np |
Hold onto your little ....Gonads and Strife |
OMG, i've been looking for that like crazy! thanx man |
|
Haha |
Dammit, what was the point behind this thread again? Don't you just hate it when some Gonad posts some crap like that, and throws everything off topic?!?!?! At any rate... back to the hood... Oh my ***!!! I saw this guy cut some weird holes in his hood, and he was like "weeeeeeeeeeee" . |
lmao Yeah my post got posted as a new topic .. my question was What's the finished product ie the hood supposed to look like ?????? |
That looks too eylashy. LIke the car has eyes and eyelashes. Herbie comes to mind. Get a custom ram air set up. Or cut off your hood and get one of those cheap JCwhitney scoop. Like 50 for the most expensive one. You'll see it will turn from girly to mean. Or if you really like your car like that, than by all means do away. Its your car and you can do whatever you please. On the other hand, no matter how much you say that you will do whatever you want to the car and that you dont care what anybody thinks about it... You know that by posting here, you actually do care how it looks to somebody else.:D ;) |
1 Attachment(s) maybe make the scoops a little longer and punch them IN to the hood and it would look okay..... sorta like the lt1 firebirds |
that's what I thought that he was doing origintally, sorta like heat extractors, but they'd have to start after the radiator... |
i can appreciate the time and effort that you did , but it looks horrible . |
yea, i think the lt1 firebird hood idea would look really good too. but then again he kept saying wait till its done, so maybe hell surprise us with something really cool. |
like a new hood I honestly wont be surprised if he doesnt ever reply to this thread again |
OMG Guys, I just went back to this post, looked at the pics .. and listen to this My wife just happened to be in the room. .and when she saw those uhmm eyelids on the hood ... she burst into laughter |
the hood doesnt HAVE to be functional, so the positioning of the extractors doesnt REALLY matter (dont think the ones on those firebirds are functional either...my friend has a 93 and IIRC water sorta puddles up in them after it rains so theres no vents or holes for air to come out....i THINK.) Anyhizzle..... the BEST option might just be to bend those flaps back down to level with the rest of the hood and maybe just bring it back to "stock", LOL |
or wait, better idea... keep it like it is, but.... PUT LIGHTS IN THE "SCOOPS"!!!!!!! HOTNESS!!! LOL (Sorry I couldnt help.....) Ya know, like the firebirds flip up lights? only permanantly "up"? LOL Edit: To the starter of this thread....do whatever you wana do. If you like it do it. Dont take MY comments as an attack on your taste or style, its all in fun. Certainly some people would be disgusted at my gauges or my shifter, so whatever floats your boat :-P Just dont want this to become a big fight or whatever... |

I think it would be best if he just kept cutting, made some type of vent and filled in the hole with a screen of some sort. |
push them back down, weld them, some metal finishing... you'll never know that something happened... OTOH, hell, do whatever you like, it's your car... |
I know exactly what it needs now!! Some fur lining. :D |
you know what would also be cool? if they were alot longer but were still up, like a ram air/ra2 hood. WEEEEEEEEEE! |
You won't have to worry about Jaywalkers. |
Those vents need to be reversed so they vent out the air from under the hood. Or you cold try this http://mustangmonthly.com/featuredve...mage_small.jpg |
hrrmm hmmm *mumbles something about hoping his babe will be running this weekend so he can finally start on his backup hood* |
curious OK... since I like pussycats :) ... and curiosity killed the cat ... what's the news regarding this custom hood on this post ? |
The hood works very well! Laugh all you want. The Hood isnt done yet because my CAR doesnt run properly and is off timing real bad, needs a tune up, so I cant drive it to the hot rod shop to get it welded. So Im going to have to wait until the car is done... I dont want to remove the hood again.. too lazy and I finally got it aligned and it opens when I pull the latch!!! yay! When I drove it earlier today to PepBoys there was a massive air flow going inside the cowl area thru the openings that were made. and it FLAPPED fast as hell going 40 miles an hour so AIR is getting in there...lots of it..and when I park all the heat escapes thru there as well. So Im happy.. the car gets a massive air flow as I drive and it cools down better when Im not moving. |
