Custom once peice roof for t top i was thinking of trying to make a custom roof that would be once peice that would fit over the t bar and look like the one peice roofs that the corvettes have. I was think of using some used t tops and fiber glassing over them and trying to use the part of the t tops with the locks and handels with the fiber glass. This whole idea came from trying to find a used t top for the one I lost on the freeway and I found a company that sold a once peice roof for the old 70' s corvettes that have t tops. Any one have any ideas or feed back on the idea? |
Biggest problem with that would be storing it. You'd pretty much have to leave it at home when you took it off. |
yeah unless you made it hindged..... The corvette one fits behind the seats |
cant hurt to try =) keep this updated .. maybe with pics =D cuz id like to see what it looks like when its done.. or in the process |
i think it would be cool to make a one piece roof but only to get rid of the t-bar. if you made something like the newer corvettes have that you can take that whole piece out that would be tight. but structurally i think it would take alot of work. |

Originally posted by 92Transam.what im looking to make is not a targa top but similar , I know what a targa top is. I haven't gotten into any fiberglass fabrication yet, but I did however cut it's shape out of some plywood that I painted black to match the body (temporarily), and simply taped the seems with some black electrical tape (relax, I do not drive her in the rain... and again, it's only temporary until the fabrication is finished.). ;) 92TransAm, lemme know how you're progressing.... |

I already cut the T-BAR off, and I just finished welding in steel lips (where the weather-stripping will run, front and back) that runs from one side to the other.... Originally posted by 92Transam yeah but I don't want to remove the t bar from the car because I plan on droping in a 350 with a supercharger later for about 500-600 hp. I replaced the t tops with a used set from a guy out here off a z28 70 bucks, just had to repaint the edges because they were red.[/i] |
