Official Resoration Package Request Form.

If any of you would like a restoration packet from GM for your Camaro I'll let you in on how to get one.

Here's who you need to send the info to:
cac@chevrolet.com
Here's the info you need to provide:

1. Your VIN
2. Mailing Address
3. Day and evening phone number

What you will get is a booklet with Past Model Information and another packet with Year Specific Information.

The specs booklet is very detailed it include all types of info from curb weight to individual components weights. Dimensions, order options, RPO's and all kinds of other info.

It is very helpful and will be quite handy if you try and restore a thirdgen twenty years from now. Best of all its free. I just thought I would share this info.

I need to give credit to Jim85IROC who is SiteAdmin at www.iroczone.com who brought this to my attention. I imagine he has a username on here and I thank you. Great site for us Iroc-Z owners.

Krazzycowgirl 05-31-2004 02:21 PM

This has been discussed several times on this board. There is one guy (camarosource) that is begging for people to mail him copies of these.

Willie 05-31-2004 02:28 PM

Or call GM Customer Service at 800.222.1020.

DoBeR 05-31-2004 05:42 PM

Am I right in thinking that this info is not available for cars sold to canada?

FastElectrics 05-31-2004 05:45 PM

You can get it for cars in Canada.. I have not done it yet. but I have inquired about it. Unfortunatly for us Canadians .. it's not free. nothing is in this country.
-----------------------
Your request can be processed through our Vintage Department.

The information will be provided on a research basis and will include all available information such as: option content, selling dealer, original paint and trim, production/shipping date, production plant, engine number, quantities of the model produced/sold in Canada, and copies of Motor Vehicle Manufacturers specifications or sales data as available. The information that is available depends on the year of the vehicle.

If you are interested in a Vintage Package, you are welcome to call
1-888-467-6853. There is a fee for this service.

DoBeR 05-31-2004 05:48 PM

Do you know what its worth to order it??

91rsowner4life 05-31-2004 05:57 PM

yes it is really worth it you have to give them your vin# so they check to see if theres any recalls that need to be done to your car that have not been done yet and it is filled with a lot of info i really recommend doing it. i sent it and they said it would take about 5-6 weeks to get it but i got it in like 2 weeks

FastElectrics 05-31-2004 08:45 PM

You need to contact GM Vintage services in Oshawa and ask to speak with a guy named George Zapora at the office located at 1908 Colonel Sam drive, Oshawa, Ontario, L1H 8P7, toll free at 1-888-467-6853 or outside of Canada at (905)644-4060 or (905)644-3387 monday through friday from 7:30am to 5:00pm EST or via email George.zapora@gm.com

It costs $40.00 Canadian dollars for the complete vintage package and takes anywhere from 2 to 8 weeks to get it depending on the current workload. The package will consist of every option code with description that your car came with along with a very complete booklet of manufacturer specifications as well as the plant of origin.

Hope that info helps out :)

FastElectrics 05-31-2004 11:16 PM

sounds rather cool.. worth the money I would imagine. It would be nice to know more about my car.

cam- 05-31-2004 11:20 PM

I was very pleased with it myself.

red87iroc 06-01-2004 12:43 PM

Just ordered mine throught the number Willie provided. Can't wait to get it! Thanks casper8x for posting this! Just another reason to love this site!

fisherbody86 06-01-2004 10:53 PM

I tried to order this, and they said it was not available for 1992 model year Camaro's. What gives?

cam- 06-01-2004 11:14 PM

Which office did you contact?

red87iroc 06-02-2004 09:15 AM

From Fisherbody 86:

I tried to order this, and they said it was not available for 1992 model year Camaro's. What gives?
All I know is that the person on the phone asked me to wait while he confirmed that this package was indeed available for 1987 Camaro's. So they must only have the information for certain model years.

Krazzycowgirl 06-02-2004 01:44 PM

They do have the ones for 87 I have one sitting at my house for it.

red87iroc 06-09-2004 10:09 AM

Got it yesterday......

A week later, and I already have mine! Some really good information inhere, looks like a lot of the stuff Pontiac Historic Services charges you $35 for (they do include a LOT more info, and a b/w picture of your car).

Thanks again to casper!

panther 06-09-2004 11:17 AM

I just ordered a package for my car but I have a question. To those that have already received theirs, does it include the original dealer name that ordered the car?

red87iroc 06-09-2004 12:18 PM

Panther:

No, it did not include the original invoice for the car. Basically, it included the MVWA report for the car, and copies of the factory literature for your particular model year. I had to get a copy of my original invoice seperately (see post about "factory invoice for your car"). I have not had time yet to check out the contents in detail, will try and post more info tomorrow.

scottmoyer 06-09-2004 03:12 PM

GM did not offer the package on the 92's. I don't know why, but I had heard this before.

I was told the same, however GM sent me the 1992 kit. :)

Scania 06-19-2004 03:48 PM

My car was imported from Florida, and i tried to get a restoration package but they wont send it because i live in Sweden. Any ideas on how to get my hands on a restoration package for my car? GM in Sweden doesnt offer that service.

Randy82WS7 08-16-2004 11:36 PM

have someone in the states order one for your vin code car,

then have them mail it to you, dont say anything to gm about sweden

they cost $ in canada because you get info pertaining to just the vehicle in question up there, unlike down here in the states where they just send you the specifications sheets of the year and model in question and nothing specifically about the car you order it for, i dont know what they d with rthe vin info, i usally just make up a fake vin code and hand it to them so that i can get specfications book pages copies for all the trucks each year from 67-on up and some of thje cars too, ive probably called and gotten copies of the book pages 30 times now, each time for another year of car or truck, i have one for every year of chevy trucks from '67 through 80 something now,.

and some for caprices and some for camaros too, i need ot get lots more

ill work on that this winter

i need to get 77-82 caprices and impalas and 75-76 and 78-79 novas and 82 83 camaros and such

the pages tell you optional and also standard equipment RPO code equipent installed plus all the engines avaialble specs, HP ratings and materials all the partas are made from and so forth, all about the rear axles and weight ratings and tranny models and descriptions and lots of illustrations of each engine tranny and axle available each year and what models they were avaialble for

paint sections, electrical and interior sections although they dont like to send you those,, its a PIA to get them to find you those sections :(

bastards,.

Scania 08-17-2004 01:05 AM

I hope someone will help me with that. Thank you fro the idea.

85 T/A WS6 08-17-2004 08:16 AM

Just a note, these are not available for Pontiacs :(

JeffW 08-17-2004 06:28 PM

i just sent my info on my 85z lets see what happens. hope they have that stuff for mine. i got the invoice info previously.

Thanks for the tip Jeff

tomwilson 08-21-2004 03:27 PM

Jeff

Perhaps you could do what I did with all my restoration kits.

I bought Page Protectors, removed the staples from the kits, and put each page in a page protector, and then put them all in binders.

That would help preserve your kit for years to come without having to worry about ripping, dirtying the pages, etc.

Took a long time to put the pages in all my Restoration Packages (Over 200 pages) in 2000+ Page Protectors and then in binders but it definately helps for keeping them in perfect shape for years to come.

1992 RESTORATION PACKET RECIEVED!

RESTORATION PACKET RECIEVED........ AND IN RECORD TIME ALSO!!!

I E-MAILED THEM ON 09/01/2004 AND RECEIVED THE PACKAGE TODAY (09/10/2004).

THE PACKAGE COMES FROM GM - C.A.R.S., P.O. BOX 17128, AUSTIN, TX 78760. IT COST $2.67 TO MAIL. IT IS FAIRLY THICK.

MOSTLY ZEROXED INFORMATION, SOME PRETTY BASIC AND GENERIC AND SOME INTERESTING. HEY, FOR FREE HOW CAN YOU COMPLAIN?

I NEED TO DIG INTO THIS A LITTLE MORE DEEPER AND ACTUALLY READ WHAT IS CONTAINED IN THE PACKAGE.

BY THE WAY, IT IS INFORMATION SPECIFIC TO 1992 CAMAROS (SPECIFICATIONS). SOMEONE SAID THEY DID NOT HAVE THIS INFORMATION AVAILABLE......PERHAPS IT IS ALL IN WHO (OR HOW) YOU ASK.................... (of course they have information available for other years of 3rd gens, i just do not know how far back they will provide for Pontiac vs. Chevy). PERHAPS WE CAN GET A CONSENSUS OF THE YEARS PROVIDED?

WHAT DO YA THINK?

Well, someone is feeding you a line or they do not know what it is they are doing.

I received a restoration package for my '92 RS convertible at the beginning of this month. I added on my previous post with contact person that helped me. Perhaps you should address your letter specifically to her.

It is there and I have it.

Read on and GOOD LUCK!
