4th gen dash swap currently workin on dash swap . cluster is workin but i dont have the hot and igntion hooked up so would this cause my turn signals not to work yet? also i have my headlight and parkin lights workin with the 4th gen switch does anyone have the schematics for the small bezel lighting "white letters" to light up . ? i have my cluster lighten up right now |
Re: 4th gen dash swap how is it working if it doesnt have power? you signals should work on the car, but its gonna need power to make the arrows blink. |
Re: 4th gen dash swap only my gauge lettering is lightin up . so i might have a short or maybe no power with ignition |
Re: 4th gen dash swap  Wow, talk about making a hot car even more badass! Can't wait to see pics of that thing when you're done! |
Re: 4th gen dash swap well i got the thing on a while back havent worked on it.. my interior lights. go crazy .. idk if its maybe due to low battery but my hids stay on.. i only have one ground strap for the interior.. usually its two right? |
Re: 4th gen dash swap All of your interior's dash light wires are light grey. That includes switches. |
Re: 4th gen dash swap im not sure if its a wire issue. my 3rd gen headlight switch was messed up and caused all might interior lighting to do crazy things. new headlight switched fixed the issue. have you wired up the 4th gen headlight switch yet? hopefully its something simple. |
Re: 4th gen dash swap yeah actually i have.. hopefully i didnt cross anythign up .. do u have any schematics? i guess il figure it out.. sooner or later. also i want to have my interior lights .. dome.. etc on with the dimmer on the up position . is it possible? http://i260.photobucket.com/albums/i...d/CIMG0793.jpg http://i260.photobucket.com/albums/i...d/CIMG0796.jpg http://i260.photobucket.com/albums/i...d/CIMG0806.jpg http://i260.photobucket.com/albums/i...d/CIMG0832.jpg http://i260.photobucket.com/albums/i...d/CIMG0824.jpg |
Re: 4th gen dash swap i figured i might have just messed up on the headlight switch i might work on this on friday . i was able to get the interior lightin form the cluster im guessin the other appliances has a missing ground. .. so so far ill get the small light in the fog light switch hooked up as awell as the headlight switch lighting. ill figure out the turn signals later. hooked up my gauges and fan switches where the hvac controls suppose to go .. this might be temporary until i get the ac unit workin again. http://i10.photobucket.com/albums/a1.../build/ent.jpg http://i10.photobucket.com/albums/a1...build/ent3.jpg http://i10.photobucket.com/albums/a1...build/ent4.jpg |

Re: 4th gen dash swap well im actually going to look for a in dash within time. i dont have any speakers at the time so its just there for a visual lol here are two more of today some better shots http://i10.photobucket.com/albums/a1...ild/intbl1.jpg http://i10.photobucket.com/albums/a1...uild/intbl.jpg im still missing the camaro emblem. need to find a ebony dash pad and modify it to fit. as well as the missing top from the 4th gen center console. door panels. new shift knob. new seats. and pedals. audio can wait for later |
Re: 4th gen dash swap What are you going to do about your gas gauge? That being a 97+ cluster there is going to be problems. I do however have a solution to the gas gauge I think there is one other issue with that cluster though. |
Re: 4th gen dash swap mind to share.? im barely getting there.. i believe the signal comes from the ecm. |

Re: 4th gen dash swap some final lil touch ups today gm emblem and some leds http://i10.photobucket.com/albums/a1...ld/intble1.jpg http://i10.photobucket.com/albums/a1...ld/intble3.jpg http://i10.photobucket.com/albums/a1...ild/intble.jpg im still looking for a dash pad. are all camaro and trans am dash pad interchangeable? i also want to purchase a dual gauge pod for the pillar if anyone has one i would be interested. i will need to fill in the gaps in the far corners i dont feel like molding in the 4th gen ones into my 3rd gen . like this http://i10.photobucket.com/albums/a1.../intcorner.jpg but so far so good |
Re: 4th gen dash swap those are custom made fiberglass caps off of fatals car. you dont have to mold anything. if you get creative, you can shave the 4th gen ones down and they will look factory. just takes time. i wouldnt buy a dashpad online.... it will likely be the wrong color, or be cracked when you get it. GM is pricey, but you wont have to buy it twice, and it wont crack on you a week later seeing its never been baking in the sun. my .02 |
Re: 4th gen dash swap Hey TPI, the swap is lookin good. It seems that you and I took the same route, but I got a question or two for ya. How did you get the milage on a digital odometer to display with an L98? I was first using the V6 cluster that has an analog odometer and now I'm using a cluster out of a Formula still with an analog odometer but would really like to use a Z28 cluster with the digital read out. |

Re: 4th gen dash swap Awsome, so a digital odometer cluster from a 97 will work just the same as an analog odometer cluster? Something else I was wondering about, did you have to use the converter box from dakota digital or something of the like to make the speedo and tac register correctly? As for fitting those seats, well I don't have that answer but they look like they would go better in my car.:lmao: Just pullin ya chain dude, good luck with em. How much did you give for em? |
Re: 4th gen dash swap process is going slow.. barely going to work with the fuel gauge. .. and i need to modify brackets to fit the stock replacement. here are some updates. http://i10.photobucket.com/albums/a1...d/CIMG1131.jpg http://i10.photobucket.com/albums/a1...d/CIMG1140.jpg http://i10.photobucket.com/albums/a1...d/CIMG1142.jpg http://i10.photobucket.com/albums/a1...d/CIMG1148.jpg |

Re: 4th gen dash swap I started my dash swap... How do you get the plastic a/c piping to mate with the 3rd gen firewall? I just cant seem to fit it. I tryed looking at that pic of how you installed the 4th gen piping, but what did you do? I am clueless. Holding the piping in my hand trying to figure this out... I want my air to blow out the vents... |
Re: 4th gen dash swap you have to cut the 4th gen one. modify it to fit. http://i10.photobucket.com/albums/a1...d/CIMG0780.jpg |
Re: 4th gen dash swap Looks good man! Im real interested in those vette seats goin in there, keep us updated! |
Re: 4th gen dash swap Once you cut it... What do you have? A/C? Heater? Just warm air? |
Re: 4th gen dash swap those are the main vents. . and i am barely getting there. i just added them for future preference. |
Re: 4th gen dash swap Hey. I'm having a lot of wiring issues... All the wiring writeups on here dont match up to mine. Im stuck on my headlight wiring still... Need some help on that |
Re: 4th gen dash swap i had some problems with the info that was given here. but i pretty much color matched the wiring and it worked. the only thin i didnt get to fix was controling the dome light and side interior light with the dimmer switch . . |
Re: 4th gen dash swap 2 Attachment(s) Ok, someone help me with the wiring on the headlight and dimmer switch. The first pic is a pic of the 4th gen headlight switch's wiring. The wire on the far right is actually brown, and the wire on the left is black. The second pic is of the 3rd gen headlight switch wires. I need to know which colors to plug where. |
Re: 4th gen dash swap 2 Attachment(s) Then, the third pic if of the 4th gen dimmer switch wiring. And finally the 4th pic is of the 3rd gen side of the dimmer wiring. Please help |
