stupid cheap button on stock shift knob

hey guys. i wanna put an aftermarket shift knob on my camaro because i hate the cheap piece of crap that the factory puts on it. is there some way to just get rid of that knob and safety button and put an aftermarket one on it? or do these shifters HAVE to have that button?

All right grasshopper you must learn something about this forum. You should read other posts for awhile and take note how they are phrased and maybe someone would answer yours phrased in a different way.

thanks for actually giving a good response man. lol. but only thing is that i'm just lookin for a replacement for the shift knob. im not a big fan of all the b&m shifter setups and stuff like that. im really just wanting to know if i can just take the old shift knob off, cut that stupid safety button that you gotta press to shift, and then just screw a new one on. i saw a car on craigslist with this done, but i dont know how functional it was for him. anyone who has any info with this plz let me know asap.

Ok well if that's what ur wanting leave the safety button but set ur new knob on top of i t so that its pushing the safety button down always.. but be warned u could mess ur tranny up doing this if u kick it in to revirse or what not and then idk if u can get ur key out by doing this

Check out my thread I just ordered one from sickspeed
https://www.thirdgen.org/forums/tran...t-adapter.html
You push the ball down which pushes the adapter that pushes the button so you don't have to worry about accidentally throwing it in reverse.
