Help! 3rd gen C&C T top headliner U piece ?_?

:help::(Okay so I bought this Camaro a few years ago, it has been sitting in my garage since. Well I just started the project, I just realized that it has the C&C T tops. The idiot who owned it before me took out the original headliner and replaced it with a Fisher style t top headliner, it looks terrible, does not fit good near the center bar and also is cut in two pieces :/.

I went to a upholstery place and they said they could trim it to fit and then make it as new for $150 so I plan on doing that soon. The upholstery guy claims that there is no trim around the t top area to hold the headliner in place however there is a black trim piece the "headliner u piece" there that has old foam/cloth in the grooves from the previous headliner the issue is that it is warped. It has warped into about four S shapes near the centerbar area.

So does the headliner fit into this piece? Or does the headliner have nothing to hold it in as far as the area the side shows when the t tops are out? Also, does anyone know where I can get a replacement or if I can some how repair this one? Any help appreciated, I am new to this forum so a big Hi to all of you!

No, I was talking about the piece that runs alongside the t top weatherstrip. When you have your t tops out and look at the area they are supposed to be at you will see a black thin trim piece that runs alongside the weatherstripping, around the whole t top area on both sides.

I'm not sure if the non-vent C&C T-tops got that black trim piece, or it might be substantially smaller. I know mine has a small trim peice that basically slides over the Fabric and the T-top rail to hold the fabric in place. It doesn't fit very well and is actually about 1" short on one end. I don't have any pics of my car from the inside up.

You can see it in this pic. http://www.flickr.com/photos/8554026...7631545740311/

Its not the weather stripping. Its actually more like you'd find on one of those Report binders, a thin, strip that you slide papers into and it squeezes them together.

You should call The Sunroof Doctor. They bought out C&C's entire line-up and have tons of parts.

You just described mine to a 'T', mine also is shorter on one end than the other, I thought it was due to the warping and shrinking though? Mine has the piece and it is C&C for sure, I just can not find a replacement piece anywhere :(

You dont need it.Start with a hardtop headliner & trim it extra long. Then tuck the extra material inbetween the seal/ body.Thats my pic in imiddens post.I got rid of mine cause I hated how the ends were too short as well.Anyway, havent had any issues in ten plus years & it looks wayyyy cleaner this way.

That blk ring in the pic though is the t-top frame, not the rubber piece. It was long gone by then.
