Rear defroster repair I tried a rear window defroster repair kit to repair the grid lines but no luck. Does anybody know of a kit that works good? |
Re: Rear defroster repair Are you using the repair With the suspended Copper in a clear liquid that you shake to get the copper mixed in and then brush it on the grids bad spots. |
Re: Rear defroster repair I am sorry I can not remember the name but had good luck in the past. Comes with a little template so you get a straight line on the grid. |

Re: Rear defroster repair The rear defroster started getting used as the stereo antenna in cars in the early 2000's, it was a common problem for some to have the defroster have a break in the wire. there are bulletins out to help with the repair. I've seen them but dont have one on me, just pointing out it may be worth a place to search. but the general idea that i recall is to do as described above. |
Re: Rear defroster repair In my Fisher Body manual, there’s like 4 pages shows fixing. https://cimg3.ibsrv.net/gimg/www.thi...6e7cbc4664.jpg https://cimg8.ibsrv.net/gimg/www.thi...49c1b1611e.jpg |

Re: Rear defroster repair Here is was I used. It did not work. I tested with a VOM, a circuit tester & fogging the window up by breathing on it. It says it's electrically conductive but it's adhesive for installing the tab. https://www.ebay.com/itm/321633870876 Maybe I should have used this: https://www.ebay.com/itm/31443246175...3ABFBMyLOh74ti Does anyone have any experience with something that works? |
Re: Rear defroster repair Yes the second one is the right choice, has the little brush and template |
Re: Rear defroster repair Sorry it took so long to follow up. I had 14 breaks in the rear defogger. I didn't use the template that was included. I used 1/4" wide masking tape that was supplied with the first stuff I tried. I put masking tape on each side of the broken defogger lines. Directions said to give 3 coats. So I gave about 6. It dries fast so that wasn't an issue. When I peeled off the tape a couple places took the "stuff" off with it so I had to retape & put more "stuff" on. When I was done I tested with a meter and that worked. I waited until a cooler morning and exhaled heavy on the glass to fog it up with the defogger on and it works. Thanks for the help. |
Re: Rear defroster repair Just happy I could steer you in the right direction. |
