5.3L with truck intake/tb, which throttle cable? Do I need a 98-00 camaro throttle cable or a later year one, going in a 87 fullsize that had tbi. I have searched and saw that one without traction control is needed, just don't know which year camaro one or one off a silverado to run the truck intake/tb. |
Re: 5.3L with truck intake/tb, which throttle cable? the difference in years is due to the difference in throttle cam shape/size; that will more depend on what year your tb is off of. i still haven't fit mine on to my ls3 intake /edelbrock tb and never installed the cable when i had the ls1 intake / 2000 silverado tb, so that's about as far as i'm going to be able to help.... |
Re: 5.3L with truck intake/tb, which throttle cable? fair enough, I have to assume the tb is from 99-01 since after that time frame they switched to DBW setups. Just wanted to knock one more thing off the list of crap to order before I drop it in. |
Re: 5.3L with truck intake/tb, which throttle cable? Arent the LS1 TB's similar/same as the truck TB's? Only difference is like said above, there were 2 variations in throttle cam and one had a blue spring and one had a brown one for different throttle cams. Based on that, you should use the fbody throttle cable for that year TB. I have a 98-99 brown springed TB I think and i used the 98-99 factory throttle cable on my car. I'd have to search my old notes to see exactly what I did get but I think thats right. I know its not an LS1 intake setup but the throttle body is in about the same location as it would be on a Truck/LS1 manifold. Cable was perfect fit for my gas pedal and perfect length for my TB |

Re: 5.3L with truck intake/tb, which throttle cable? ok i'll order up the cable, we'll see what happens, I guess worst case I can resell it on here...lol. |
Re: 5.3L with truck intake/tb, which throttle cable? Just so everyone knows the f-body cable came in today, it is NOT a direct fit with the truck throttle cable bracket, there was some interesting cutting, welding and drilling of a hole to make it all function to an acceptable level for me. Hopefully it is all good now, we'll see once the motor hits the chassis ;) |
