Something you guys with 700r4/4l60e and custom exhaust might want to look at So I won an auction with Hawks 3rd gen (camarohawk) for a used crossmember for a 4l60e , but instead this is what showed up ... https://fbcdn-sphotos-b-a.akamaihd.n...28471233_o.jpg So naturally I thought maybe the picture doesn't meet the description ... https://fbcdn-sphotos-h-a.akamaihd.n...97671606_o.jpg The ONLY thing I have to do to make this cross member work is weld a plate on to capture the bolt on the mount .. its already sitting on the member I just can't do it up proper because the bolt is just shy by about 1 inch.. This is awesome because I was just going to modify the 4l60e cross member anyways .. This is going to work soooo much better .. |

Re: Something you guys with 700r4/4l60e and custom exhaust might want to look at I dont understand? that cross member is made for the 4L60e tranny. Mine just bolted right in. Not sure why yours didnt?? |
Re: Something you guys with 700r4/4l60e and custom exhaust might want to look at He has a 700R4 according to his signature, but he modified a 4l60e crossmember to work with the 700R4.....or atleast that's what I get from it. |

Re: Something you guys with 700r4/4l60e and custom exhaust might want to look at Looks nice I would have chopped the extra material off the rear of the crossmember before sticking it back in there |
Re: Something you guys with 700r4/4l60e and custom exhaust might want to look at bringing this back....how is this working out? I am looking to install one and was thinking of doing the same for a 700R4. However, I was just going to drill holes through the mounting sides to get access. Anyone done this? |
Re: Something you guys with 700r4/4l60e and custom exhaust might want to look at The frame rails arent parallel so drilling holes to shift it forward wont work. The simplest solution is to weld an extension like he posted. I prefer to build trans crossmembers from scratch because they never fit out of the box regardless of brand/chassis |

Re: Something you guys with 700r4/4l60e and custom exhaust might want to look at To build my own is there special materials I need or just go to HD or Lowes and get some angle iron. |

Re: Something you guys with 700r4/4l60e and custom exhaust might want to look at I can't shift the transmission over, because it is already in contact with the new crossmember (I have already cut that portion off so it won't contact now.) Here's what mine looked like before I added the extra metal. https://cimg2.ibsrv.net/gimg/www.thi...f674920e8c.jpg |

So when you did this, did you have to slot the new trans mount hole? I am doing the same, but when I did the test fit, the transmission was not in line with the hole in the crossmember. Yeah , I had to drill a new hole and cut the excess from between the new and old holes. I wish I could show you a picture, but I already got rid of this setup for a T56. |
