Switching NOS and NX parts

I'll make this quick and to the point. Can i use the NX bottle heater on my NOS kit? Can i use a NX bottle opener on my NOS kit? should i sell my NOS kit and get an NX kit?

12 Sec GTA 05-08-2002 12:04 AM

Yes. Yes. Yes.

I just read that NX injects nitrous into the intake tubing.. is this true? Here's another quickie... how do you get fuel to the fuel solenoids, do I "T" with the main line?

pardon the dirty engine bay :)

But, to get the fuel to the solenoid, you run it from the test port on the fuel rail...

The NX kit includes a cool little "nut and bolt" if you could imagine it that they are kind of short and fat. They are made of aluminum and are made to hold a standard fogger nozzle in a hole in the intake tract. Bolt part comes from the inside and has a 1/8" NPT hole down the center for threading the fogger nozzle into (see above picture) this hold the nozzle facing into the engine, so it cant spin and spray against the side or backwards. This also makes it safer against nozzle "fallout/pullout" where the nozzle lays against your header waiting for you to hit it so it can spray the mixture onto your hot headers. Instant Camaro flambé! The fuel fitting fits onto your fuel pressure test port. The fitting for the fuel supply line is –4 and when you remove the Schrader valve stem core it will allow fuel to come out and you screw the –4 line on there. Only some cars have to cut and tap into the fuel line with these NX single nozzle wet systems, most Fords and GM’s do not have to.

I'm about 99.9% positive that all GM EFI cars have the -4an test port for fuel.. The NX 20920 kit is said to work on every EFI car from GM, but I'm sure there is an exception..

B4Ctom1 05-08-2002 08:37 AM

that is correct with 99.9% of that remaining .1% usually being TBI

12 Sec GTA 05-08-2002 08:38 AM

yeah, I don't know very much about TBIs.. so I can't comment there :)

Sell NOS get NX install and be happy :)

BOTTLEDZ28 05-08-2002 09:46 PM

i dont think you can use an NX bottle opener on a NOS bottle. I may be wrong but I could swear I read that somewhere.

12 Sec GTA 05-09-2002 07:23 AM

Yeah, you're wrong. the nx bottle opener works on all bottles...

The Nitrous Express "Next Generation"
remote bottle opener. The NX remote
opener is guaranteed not to affect
horsepower output or cause the
surging sensation associated with
current designs It is furnished with
all installation hardware and weather
pack wiring kit.
(fits any brand nitrous system).

Yeah, no -4an test port for us

Half right. There are 2 versions. One for just NX bottles, and a universal one.

here is that nozzle and intake tube bushing included in the kit

FWHP vs. RWHP

Whats the difference between being rated at FWHP and RWHP? Whats better? I dont know if I should get NOS or NX.

12 Sec GTA 05-20-2002 10:45 AM

rwhp == rear wheel hp, fwhp == fly wheel hp.

with a NOS kit rated at 100fwhp, you will get 100 to the flywheel, with losing 20% (or whatever your drivetrain loss % is.. 20 is just an arbitray #) with the NX kit rated at 100 rwhp, you will get 100 horsepower to the rear, with 124 or so to the flywheel..

gtabadboy 05-20-2002 06:39 PM

O OK. Thank you for the response. I think I will go with NX then. Another question, Can i run nitrous with hypereutectic pistons??
