Another 144 Question

Okay so I finally decieded on the setup for my TA. I want to go with a weiand 144 blower, the question I have is what hood will I need??? 2'', 2 1/2'', 4'' cowl???? I've done many searches and haven't found what will fit. If I could I would rather go with a shorter cowl, but will go with the 4'' if I have to. I plan on getting MSD 6AL ignition, with a boost retard control box, gonna go with a 12 bolt 3.42 gears, and maybe a little spray (50-75) or methanol inj. for strip use. Also if anyone has any pics on their 3rd gen, please post. Thanks

I just about barely squeezed it under the hood of my 78 Malibu with a 2-1/2" cowl- and that was playing a lot of air cleaner games and still rubbing ever so slightly on the underside.

Your 3rd gen Camaro has less hood clearance than my Malibu to begin with so I'd say a 4" cowl hood for sure.

Damon, you have a 142 rite? Isn't the 144 a little shorter:hmmm:

Yea it's supposed to be about 1/2'' shorter, but someday I'll have a no2 plate there

I've got a 142 in an '86 T/A and the top of the carb rubs on the underside of the hood. The ring that the aircleaner sits on sticks up above the hood. I don't have a good picture on this laptop otherwise I'd show you.

Yeah, the 144 sits the carb about 1/2" lower than my 142. Not enough to make a big difference- you still need a good sized cowl hood to clear it on a 3rd gen.

Yea but that shouldn't be a problem. I'm gonna get a 4'' cowl, that should hide it all. I can't wait to get it done, just gonna be a while to save up.... I Gonna def. be different though.
