whats the max boost that a stock 350 engine could take? Whats the max boost that a stock 350 engine could take with to4e .57 twin turbo? |
that depends on the 'stock' motor... Cam, compression, heads, age, ect... |
|
GM Goodwrench 350ci / 260hp Engine Specifications: 4 bolt main with 2 piece rear main seal Cast iron crankshaft LT1/LT4 powdered metal connecting rods Cast pistons (dished) Hydraulic flat tappet cam, (.383''/.401'') and a 112° lobe separation Cast iron cylinder heads with 76cc chambers 8.5:1 compression ratio Left hand dipstick 4 quart oil pan 8'' balancer spark plug- Accel 111-574 with 14mm, .460'' reach, 5/8'' hex, tapered seat, projected tip |
That's pretty abysmal. That low CR will tolerate a fair bit of boost, except for the cast pistons and tight ring gaps. I'd stop at about 9psi or so. |
Everyone I talked to recommended against boosting that engine. That included Summit and engine shops. To do it right with that engine, you'd want to change the pistons/rings and the tiny cam too. But, by the time you change everything, you could've had a better engine built from the start. |
i just wanted to find out but i have made my block already forged crank forged pistons nitrous hp cam and blow thru 750 carb, h-beam rods and the whole engine is arp bolted and the to4e twin turbo setup intercooled with 3 inch exhaust all the way back |
then why do you care what a " stock " 350 will handle? |
cause i want to know it does not hurt to ask does it! |
perhaps it's for future reference, it doesn't hurt to learn. better to ask than to bomb an engine. beside, 9 psi isn't bad at all if you're just looking to put a little kick in a daily driver, although I'd be a bit more conservative myself for an added durability factor |
