If you have seen ThirdGen.Org mentioned in a magazine....

We are asking that you post what magazine, title of the article, date of the issue, and what was said about the site. If you have the magazine, it would be great if you would scan it and E-Mail it to webmaster@thirdgen.org. If you are, post that you are doing so in this topic also. The idea is to make a list of mentions the site has had in different magazines and articles.

Thanks. :)

Magazine: Camaro Performers

Article: Dinner & A 1LE
Build A Genuine Reproduction 1LE

Date: Winter 03

Mention: "Thirdgen.org is a Web site that provides a great deal of information on a variety of subjects, including the 1LE. If you can't find the answer to a particular question, this Web site allows you to post a question."

"There are a number of knowledgeable members that can offer helpful advice. In addition, the site has technical articles on a variety of subjects."

Note: If any1 has this magazine and a scanner and is willing to scan and E-Mail it, it would be cool. :)

The site has been mentioned in a magazine over here in England called Classic American. I'll dig out the page and scan it for ya. There's not much there, just a 4" square with a little flattering description, but I'll still dig it out....and buy a scanner....

If third gen owners send letters/non-digital pictures to our Street Heat section and mention that they hang out here, I'll include it in the write-up.

The latest Car Craft issue arrived on my doorstep yesterday. In it they have a full blown article on the TPI system. Third gen .org is mentioned at the end of the article for source of information.

In the UK:-

Classic American magazine
Issue Number:- 134
Published in June 2002.

Article regarding a 1987 Camaro IROC-Z Convertible in dark metallic red. Lots of compliments for Willie in the article as he had helped the guy with accumulating information etc. And a small information box regarding www.thirdgen.org as shown below:-

If anyone would like the whole article then email me. Am I allowed to post it on the board as long as names and registration plates are fuzzed out? Perhaps one of the mods can let me know via PM.

bigals87z28 06-08-2003 11:39 AM

GM high tech performance -

Mentions www.thirdgen.org a couple of times in the articles that were written on the Magnum TPI project car.

NufNuffZ28 08-20-2003 03:30 PM

GM High Tech did one in the internet section a long time ago. So long ago in fact I think it was just High Tech Performance. I will check it out.

GMHTP is at it again. They talk about swapping in a LT1 and they talked about TGO's classifieds where they got the car I belive?? and TGO's Engine Swap board to where they got the idea of putting in the LT4 Hot Cam kit. Go TGO! :lala:

Yup...yur right. I read the same article and they said that they picked up a cheap car in TGO's classfieds. :)

Goumba T 01-30-2004 10:42 AM

It was in the March 2004 issue of GMHTP, p56 "Project Snowball"

You forgot to mention the unfortunate reason why a thirdgen was picked. The author had fun at the track with a Fourth gen belonging to BSR, and liked it. However he wasn't willing to wreck a fourth gen in the future, so he "needed a car rthat was relatively easy and cheap to replace" if he crashed on the course.

He should have mentioned however where the engine swap section is. I'm sure a newbie will be looking on the main page rather than the forums.

In the December 2004 Issue of Chevy high Performance the article on page 86 In Sync: Choosing the Proper Speedo Gears for your 700-R4 (BTW very informative for those who have done changes with rear ends and transmissions) goes on to say they used the Tech Equations on the main page and refered to TGO as "one of our favorite Camaro sites", as they were working on the project car "The Bi--hin Camaro." Thought it was a cool plug in a sense and figured I would let you all in and share.

Kandied91z 11-19-2004 01:57 AM

what we ask isn't always printed, i put in a small point about thirdgen.org and it was retracted from my feature in 2004 sept CHP.

Parrydise7 05-30-2005 01:58 PM

The June, 2002 issue of Super Chevy, page 165. Probably the same article as Camaro Performers, referred to above.

badjuju342 11-15-2005 04:01 PM

This month's issue of Car Craft . Shifty Capone is quoted and thirdgen.org is mentioned . I don't have the magazine in front of me but he made a post about about listening to Pantera while driving his third gen .

badjuju342 11-16-2005 10:21 AM

To be more clear : Jan'06 Car Craft , page 16.

mike graycar 05-12-2006 12:43 PM

GM High tech. There was a collumn devoted to GM websites and one month they did a whole article on thirdgen.org. That was how I ended up here. It was in an issue from '89 or '91. I have it somewhere, let me look for it-Mike

Re: If you have seen ThirdGen.Org mentioned in a magazine....

Not the most noteworthy, but here you go. I have no scanner.

Super Chevy, March 2015, (volume 44 no 3), pg. 99, "Techin' in with Fletch" by Dan Fletcher, sub titled; ARE ZEE BRAKES WRONG?

Summary; This is a column where readers write in with questions. The reader states his 91 Z has the G92 option (which includes rear discs) but his car has drums. Reader states TGO states "all 91 Z 350s came with G92 which includes rear disks. The solution, provided by info. from camaorsource.ca, says (in summary) that there was a period during production where the rear disks were replace with rear drums, with partial cash credit to customer, and his car was probably built during this brief period.

Note: typo in article, actual link is camarosource.ca
