Hey Zone that pretty nice.. custom wiring? I like how it only comes down one side. I'd love to do something like that with my tpi but ain't gunna happen. What I think i'm gunna end up doing is running the wire under the plenum and fuel rail to hide them. No doubt its going to be a B but when I'm done it should be totally worth it just with the amount it cleans up... By the way are those block offs on the intake for the inlet into each cylinder ?.... Any one got a shot of thier cleaned up TPI? the attachment is what I got so far lot more to go...

Yes, i chopped and removed all wiring that did not do anything. Makes a huge difference and when you go carb, there is allot that needs to go.

The bosses are there for a direct port nitrous setup if i wanted to use them.

It will be worth it for you, but yes, a big ol pain in the butt.

dude whats with all the LS1 conversions? They look good but cluttered more than my TPI. I didn't think that was possible but apparently i was wrong.. Hey lance I did you blast and polish those serpentine brackets or are they painted to look like that. I blasted mine and am sort of not really happy about the way they look. I've thought about polishing them since I just did the plenum and i'm gunna do the wheels next. I keep forgetting to take my camera with me everytime I go to work on her.. the picture I posted before was like 2 or 3 weeks ago.. since then i've polished the intake and replaced the hardware with all stainless steel. I'll get my bro to email a pic of it so i can post it...

krylon rust tough enamel. i know it may not last a real long time but it is doing a great job so far.

have you looked into VHT aluminum high heat paint for headers? I used it on my headers and they work pretty good so far but i haven't started the car since i bought it.. funny huh?

It's cluttered because it's not finished yet :) compared to my old tpi setup, this will turn out way cleaner.

Hey Sail you got a shot of the left side of that motor? Thats side is my main concern cuz there is soo much crap over there that its not funny. I've got most of it off right now but i wanna look into relocating it to different spots. Thinkning the water regulator can be moved to the side by the frame rail and the air injection valve might be able to be moved to the same spot or maybe underneath the passenger side head lights...

not bad but have you ever thought about moving that coolant unit out of the way... I'm trying to move mine to either under the compressor or to the right of it on the underside. If I remember correctly there is a mounting location where i was going to make a bracket to hold it down there and just shorten or lengthen the coolant lines for the at regulator... I appreciate the pic though...

sailtexas186548 10-01-2009 10:57 AM

Re: Pics of Peoples cars

whenever i get around to messing with the engine bay again...$$$..., there's not gonna be any heater/a/c in their at all lol, so its gonna stay like it is. if there's a/c in the bay at all it's gonna look like crap no matter what IMO.

if you do want to move it, the problem is the vacuum line that runs to the tb to run the heater core switch is not really easy to get out of the way

DrewsCam 10-01-2009 11:07 AM

Re: Pics of Peoples cars

I'm guna take care of my regulator this coming sat and I'll drop some pics of it on sunday I think. So your going to pull out your a/c? You gunna run a delete pulley or soemthing... I could use your condenser if you dont need it hahaha.

esc 10-01-2009 12:47 PM

Re: Pics of Peoples cars

You know, my car never had one of those vacuum heater valve things. My heater core always has hot water. It doesn't make any diffreence. As long as the temp lever is set to cold, no air passes over the heater core.

That's a lot of plumbing for what I consider to be a redundent part. Maybe your ventilation system is differnt than mine and it is necessary, but I don't think so.

I could be wrong, maybe it makes a difference on the newer cars. But it doesn't on mine.

My question is, have you tried operating with out it?

here is mine, not bad for an ls conversion, Just a little cleaner than my old tpi set up.

get mike "1badz" to post his tpi motor pic. if I remember right his was pretty sharp and clean.

DrewsCam 10-02-2009 04:12 PM

Re: Pics of Peoples cars

Hey Kevin that is pretty clean but theres no way I could afford or am willing to change around my motor to an LS1 atleast right now... Eric I've tried running without it and have noticed that the motor takes longer to cool down since there's more of a colling system to go through. The regulator valve essentially cuts the colling system into smaller parts allowing coolant to cool down the motor faster than before. My 82 Z28 didn't have it and I ran at about 225 all the time... Course thats probably due to the headers and what not but this 91 runs about 195 after a half hour at idle... I'm not by any means saying this setup is better but I wanna keep it. You could argue that my 91 has dual fans and thats what keeps it cooler which your prob right but I'm more concerned about the redundancy of the electrical system rather than the cooling system. I'm just looking to clean up that side of the motor. I think i'm going to move mine to where Lance put his cuz it makes sense and the emissions air injection valve I'll move to the bottom left side of the ac compressor kind of hiding it as best as possible... See the difference between what I'm doing comparitively is that I'm keeping my emissions functional until I no longer need it then I'll erase it from the Prom and remove the wiring and components.. but 6 yrs and counting to go..

Re: Pics of Peoples cars

Hey Lance I hate to ask but you got another picture of the left side of your motor that you could post up for me... and hey what no headers dude?

Re: Pics of Peoples cars

oh yeah there are headers. that was an old pic when i moved the valve. here is the only other left side pic.

Re: Pics of Peoples cars

I thought there was... atleast I remembered there being headers. I think you guys have helped me out with lot of good ideas for my engine cleanup... I've gotta finish up the engine bay so that I can move under the car and change out the tranny filter, gasket, install my flywheel dust cover, install my subframe connectors, exhaust, and then of course tackle the rust in the back of the car so that I can gut the interior and repair all that and then on to audio and finally the body and fresh paint... ugh thats a lot when I look at it...

PS- air conditioning too...

sory man could take a pic of that connector but its got a white wire and a pink and black wire... I've got the service manual to look it up in but haven't yet because I was tearing out the inside of the car to replace the carpet and redo some wiring under the dash.. you know the usual... tear out other peoples "professional wiring". Also smoked the rear lens....

i havent. i suppose the only reason it is there is to bypass the heater core when the a/c is on.

as many of you guys know i had to bust the motor in my car back down to the block to clean it up and change out my valve springs. With all that done I've started to rebuild it and got all the way up to the fuel rail with new injectors but i had a question that maybe one of you guys should know... How do you set (adjust) roller rockers? Any special tools i need or just bolt them on and crank them down?
