gaugeing interest in fall meet

i have seen a few people say they would like a fall meet. i was thinking the first of november since it SHOULD BE cooler. give me ideas and see who could all attend. i suppose bear creek park would be cool as well.

also lets look at a track day as well. ideas will be needed for it to. i know on other forums we parked at the end of the bleachers in the rock parking lot and hung out for a while.

Congrats bro. Are you sure the fiancee wouldn't love to add a car meet to your
honeymoon plans?

Of she did then every guy there would be hitting on his girl for being a true car enthusiast :P

I'm up for just a cruise to resturant X, like we did last year. As for what resturant, it doesnt matter to me. Anywhere in houston is cool with me. October-Dec are all fine with me.

What if we did a meet at resturant X... followed by a cruise.... to Royal Purple Raceway..... ending with track night.
This would let people show up for just the parts they like. Also, the last 2 times I went to the track were in June of this year. Both times were for Friday night street night, and both nights there were not a lot of people there. I showed up at 6pm and raced until about 11pm, and both times I got in 8+ passes. I guess its the economy, but the lines at the track are not what they once were. Or maybe I was just lucky?

Jupiter 07-14-2011 06:11 PM

Re: gaugeing interest in fall meet

I like that idea. I should be ok for the track by then. Am working on getting
my clutch pedal situated in the next couple of weeks. Got the pedals and
waiting on other parts.
My Plan...

It appears i will probably end up using a
Ram78125HD bearing + Wilwood 260-10372 mc + sleave + clevis eyelet shank

and no she will not go out with you.

Re: gaugeing interest in fall meet

I think a restuarant cruise type thing would be pretty cool. If its in October i'd be more likely to make it though. I've got some updating to do...

one92rs 07-15-2011 08:23 PM

Re: gaugeing interest in fall meet

i think a restaurant and a cruise would be good.

what restaurant and where. and how far do people want to go to get to the track.

we need to find who all would be willing to go as the track is down south.

one92rs 07-22-2011 04:20 PM

Re: gaugeing interest in fall meet

lets plan this out people. we need ideas on the restaurant!!!!
then plan on the drive to the track. suppose the end of october would be cool.

Re: gaugeing interest in fall meet

I'm going to choose 2 resturants, to get this started. Dennys on Bay Area BVLD near where Saturn dr intersects it... kinda on the way to fairmont PKY.

The other, TGI fridays, near beltway south side and I45. I dont know if either one of these are desireable, but I figure this is as good a place to start as any. If you disagree, then please post up an alternative.

Uh, is this falling on its face, or is it just too far in advance for people to get modivated?

Unless something comes up i'm in. I just got through
setting up my new pedal setup and master cylinder
for the clutch. Tomorrow i'll pull the tranny and install
the hydraulic bearing and cross my fingers and hope
this will all work.

trying to get my car going to make this! making a cardboard intercooler to test fitment right now!

Anyone interested in a cars & coffee meet up in the EARLY morning then take a cruise and eat lunch? just throwing the idea out there. would have to be the first saturday of a month I believe

one92rs 08-15-2011 06:12 PM

Re: gaugeing interest in fall meet

i believe the best we could do is maybe!!

we did this before and it was pretty cool. lets do a cruise like tpe does. meet up somewhere near town. cruise thru freeport then to galveston. eat in galveston and take pics. then cruise off.

the alternate is a park get together.

well the plan is to upgrade to the 2300. But there are some questions about the hood clearance. the hood bracing has already been cut once to fit the 1900, so I can't really cut any more away. if the 2300 wont go, I would still be around 625 to 650 rwhp. maybe wait a while and then have Hawks make me a zr1 type hood like they did on the storm trooper car. but they had around 130 hrs labor in that hood alone. stupid crazy $$$, but it would be off the chain.

whoa man that car is gonna be nuts, your poor clutch:burnout: you may be able to get a fiberglass shop down here to do it for you, if you have to pursue a custom hood shoot me a PM I know a great shop down here in Kemah that does carbon and fiberglass work

What about T-Bone Tom's in Kemah, and then across 146 to the
Chick-Fil-A meet on sat's. It was still going on last week, and
DESPARATELY needs some GM iron to offset the 'stangs & Mopars.

Regardless, I'll be there for moral support, with status pictures
of the formula. ;)

There's like 50 car shows happening that day. I prob won't be there in my car though. Work slowed and I need to do some repairs first.

Same here dude! Pray that I score one of these jobs I applied too. If I get even the lowest paying one I'll have it road worthy by the end of the month.

I am so confused. Was there still going to be a cruise? This thread has been informative of other Houston area meets and I am always glad to hear about those. That said, please :totopic:

Somebody pick a date, and a resturant. I am all for Friday night or Saturday anytime.

mav75 10-18-2011 10:20 PM

Re: gaugeing interest in fall meet

We're losing steam here. I really want to see something happen. I know that the only thing standing between me and a meet is getting my wife to agree to come along. She doesn't like riding in my car (or even driving it) because she says it rides too low. She's just not used to it. The ride height is standard and unmodified, just like everything else on it. Kind of puts a damper on things, though. Had I known she wouldn't like the ride...oh hell, I still would have bought it!!

Here's my plan. I'm going to talk her into either coming with me or giving me a night "off" to go myself. Once I get the green light, I'll take the lead on the date, time and place.

Where in Houston does everyone live? I'm in NW Houston. If those of us following this thread are scattered, I figure somewhere on Westheimer might be a nice central meeting place.

Thoughts?

Agreed. And for gods sake lets not do this at a hooters. We need to do this at a burger/shake joint like proper gear heads. And NO. Whataburger doesn't count. West Houston Muscle Used to Meet at a 59 Diner over hear in Katy right off of the feeder. Stake 'n Shake has better burgers though. I'm open for any where in the West or Central area of Houston.
