1987 IROC Z28 350 5.7 LTR TPI W/ T-TOPS... I AM LOOKING TO CHAT AND MEET WITH PEOPLE IN MY AREA. I'M NEW TO THIS SITE AND AM STARTING TO CUSTOMIZE MY RIDE. I AM WORKING ON THE FUEL SYSTEM RIGHT NOW.CAR CODE READS BAD M.A.F. CAUSING ALL KINDS OF PROBLEMS, LIKE BLOWING GAS THROUGH THE VACUUM CANNISTER WHEN THE GAS TANK PRESSURE GOES UP. WHAT ARE MY OPTIONS, ANYONE? I WANT TO REPLACE ANYTHING THAT I HAVE TO WITH THE BEST HIGH PERFORMANCE PARTS. I'LL BE NEEDING A GOOD PAINT AND INTERIOR GUY TOO. IT SAT IN THE SUN FOR 4 YEARS,UNDRIVEN. BY THE WAY, AFTER I DROPPED AND REPLACED TANK AND GAS ETC. IT RAN PUUUUUURFECT. I LOVE MY IROC... oops,i did caps lock more than i thought,sorry..

This isn't really a club forum. You might want to check out the Arizona F body club. They are pretty active, otherwise there are a few occasional posts from guys in Tempe (Bruce and TonyC) on this board.

Check the sticky in this forum for a bodyshop.

Hey there! Like Chad Oliver said there aren't a whole ton of us in the Tempe area that I know of other than me and Tony (couple just east in Mesa, too). Unfortunatly we really don't do a whole lot of get-togethers but we do meet up from time to time like at Firebird or whatnot, so keep your eyes open. Other than that, welcome to TGO!

I am still feeling out how this all works on this site, any info i can find reg: my iroc would be great.. b.s.n' with some other guys would help me get this car fixed up. I'll be needing to know some quality paint and interior guys. for now it's the m.a.f. sensor. please let me know if anyone will be meeting. I'm not looking for a club though. this forum seems cool.

How are you reading your codes? Are you doing the paperclip way? <----- 3rd gens are so cool like that. No need for a code reader.

Anyway, you can come swing by my house sometime and we can check some things if you want. Have you looked into MAF sensor replacements?

aaron here,cool man that would be great. a 40 year veteran of GM gave me a key that is for reading light. two prong thing. yes i have looked into it and they aint cheap. after core its still $80 bucks from auto zone,that is remanufactured. how would i get or give info to meet up in here?

Hey Aaron, $80 isn't bad. I remember paying upwards of $400 for my 1985 Trans Am's MAF 10 years ago.

I live in the Ahwatukee area, around 40th Street and Chandler Blvd. I like cruisin' to the Scottsdale Pavillions on Saturday nights. One of these days I should join the AZ. F-Body club.

i wouldn't really cruise my iroc yet,it just needs paint.body is fine. sounds amazing,especially since i have the flow master cat back off right now. when i drive it people either roll their windows up, or they are motorheads and turn their radios off and listen at the light, till it turns green. all taillights for them.

I will be driving to the Scottsdale Pavillions this Saturday night, 2-24. My 89 IROC is red with T-tops. Hope to see some of you there.

I'm off of Pecos and Cooper....I've had my Z-28 for about 8 months....I wish i could drive it but i took the interior out to replace the carpet and recover the seats. Does any1 go to the Pavillions on a regular basis? if so what do u guys drive(besides Bill). Ill probably hit it up on my Bike this weekend.

I was there Last sat of 2-24-07 and will be there next sat again.. Would be nice to see some others out there, Also i am not too fond of AzFBA, if you are a memeber and can make a better impression than i first got please come talk to me. :)

id love to come out to the pavillions on saturday. i dunno if i can, id probably bring my g/f along. Id bring my 92 RS. but, i kinda, dont know where the pavillions are.

I'll be there again this Saturday. The Scottsdale Pavillions car show was started in 1991 by me and some friends. Drive to Loop 101 (in Scottsdale) and Indian Bend, turn west, go to the parking lot west of the McDonalds restaurant. Be sure to look at the yellow signs on the center of each row to see where you can park your car. This is my favorite weekly cruise, and I'm always looking to cruise to other fun locations in the Phoenix area.

March 3rd it is, ill be there.. just look for a blue and white camaro... Thats all i have to say, like you will know when you see my car.. no other camaro looks like mine.. heh heh, also I park in the street car isle, or something like that... also i love to drive out towards apache lake, the winding roads are the best.. :) as long as you have the suspension to take the turns like i do...

I'm going to be at the Pav's this Saturday with some of the lightning guys. I'm waiting on some fuel fittings to get my car back together, but if they don't come I'll just throw the old lines back in and drive up. I'm a 6'1" dude with a white-fro + beard + dreamy eyes wearing a black mechanics shirt who loves long walks on the beach!

hey joker, or anyone who wants to drive in a pack...aaron here. i will meet up with ya'll tonight,saturday march 10th. anyone else want to cruise with us, meet on the south side of chillis. The parking lot is kind of empty, it's easier to locate each other. I will be there from 5pm - 5:20-ish. I can only sit and wait to drive so long. Leave a post if you can make it.

i will be there...i will probably be on my Harley....the Z28 has no interior right now, seats are over-rated but functional when they are installed.

its like 540 by my watch and i just got home from chilies. I live about 2 blocks from stapley and 60. No body was there tho. I dont know exactly how to get to the pavillions so i jsut came home, so maybe next time. Untill then, time to try and get my stereo to work. YAY!

The pavs is easy to get to. From the US60 head up the 101 for about 15 miles or so until you get to Indian Bend. Freeway you can see the stores so you'll know where to go. Then in the McDonalds/Home Depot/Best Buy parking lot, you find out where you can and CAN'T park. :nod:

Hey 92WhiteZ28, you said your car runs hot. Do you have the airdam on? My Formula didn't have one when I bought it and it ran hot. My '85 didn't have one and it ran hot. They NEED them to scoop up the air so it will pass over the radiator.

2nd, have to flushed your radiator fluid? Flush it all out a couple times in the driveway using the radiator petcock. Then fill it up with just water and 2 bottles of Water Wetter. NO COOLANT!!! Also, at this time would be a good to buy a 180* stat. 160 is temperamental with SD. I drilled a 3/8 hole in mine to give it a slight cooling edge. Or you can go to a GM dealership and buy a 170* stat.

3rd, Turn on your AC and see if the fans come on. If they do, you should be good to go. If not, look into buying a fan switch or making one yourself.

Good luck. You'll want to sort out the cooling problem while it's still nice outside. You don't want to wait for July.

wow, thats alot to take in. I just got this car and im not sure where the air dam is. uhm, im really not familiar with these cars. The only thing ive done is put coolant into it, which i guess was a bad idea. I will be at the chilies saturday if someone could help me have a look at it.
