Rubber b/w spring and wheelwell?

I have the Eibach Pro-kit on my car and I would like it to ride just a little lower. I am running 17" ROH ZS wheels and there is still a three finger gap b/w the tire and outer lip. I thought about taking the little rubber ring out from b/w the spring and wheelwell to see if it drops it a little more. Do ya'll think that would drop it a little more. The car is an 88 model so the rubber is pretty thin. Please let me know. So that I don't do this first and then find out that it didn't make a difference.

Give them some time to settle in. Also are you sure they are properly seated at the top? I have a two finger gap with the stock 245-50 series tires on 16" WS6 rims.

They have been on the car for about 10,000 miles so I think they are pretty broke in. Also I think they are set well on top. I really hate to take them out to make sure. So I guess I might just try to take out the rubber and see if there is a difference. Thanks for replying.
